Re:YouTube
I use the All-In-One Video Bookmarklet under Firefox. In my system I couldn't have the sound from Flash working properly, and last version was not even an option because its poor performance. At least, Youtube is the only site that allows viewing videos using the old version 7 Flash player.

Re:How to "rip" videos with your browserYour link is broken. Here is the right one.
And quite convenient it is, too. Thanks.

I prefer this little bookmarklet. It does all the dirty work, doesn't need an online service, doesn't phone home and it's free.

Re:How do we download from youtube again
Aw crap. I forgot that clicking "post anonymously" isn't enough to avoid canceling moderation I've done. Lame!
Well, fine, the deed is done. Here's my message with my name on it this time.
Mplayer is a good cross-platform player that will play FLV. I use it in Windows and Kubuntu.
Faster than extensions or websites, on any platform using most modern browsers (I use it mainly in Opera), use this bookmarklet. Just bookmark the link at this site which may be where I originally got it. I can't seem to paste it properly into a slashdot comment... -

Re:VideoDownloader *is* extremely useful
I prefer this greasemonkey script: http://1024k.de/bookmarklets/video-bookmarklets.h
t ml. It doesn't use some server which is not necessarily trustworthy or which could go away any time. -
Re:Adblock?
The only content filtering/editing that I have running(on top of popup blocking) is Flashblock.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/433/
I also have nuke anything enhanced:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/951/
and plain text links:
http://ted.mielczarek.org/code/mozilla/textlink/
installed, in addition to a bunch of bookmarklets:
http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/

Flash is annoying, and I like to be able to edit what I am looking at in lots of ways, but I don't like the feeling I get of not seeing what is being presented when automatic filtering goes on. I experimented with privoxy at one point, had the same feeling, and also got sick of it breaking things. So yes, I mostly avoid ads by avoiding sites that run ads, and as a result, I see lots of ads. -
Re:Shows cannot be downloaded from YouTube?
Or with a bookmarklet(no typing!):
