Re:balloons and honey potsWhat Freenet provides in this model is simply a balloon and honeypot ("So it does!" said Pooh. "It goes in!" "So it does!" said Piglet. "And it comes out!" ) which I think most people are aware is all that Freenet is at the moment (and unfortunately it currently seems to have a rather big hole in the bottom of the honey put to boot).
That doesn't sound like the Freenet I know. There is actual content floating around, and I don't just mean porn. Take Snarfoo and Content of EVIL for example, to name but two.
You will have to be running fproxy for those links to work, btw.

Freenet mirror of 2.3.0The Trolltech copy of the 2.3.0 source is really slow, so I have mirrored it in Freenet for those who want it. Freenet users can find it at freenet:KSK@qt-x11-2.3.0.tar.gz.

Anyone can be an editorAnyone can create a "portal" on Freenet on which they can filter content as they see fit. In many ways this is just like the WWW. One popular portal is Aardvark - look at freenet:KSK@Aardvark (hyperlink assumes that you are running Freenet on your machine).

Re:two quick questions on freenetWhen you have run Freenet, you should go to http://127.0.0.1:8081/ in your web browser. Click on the help button. Be patient, it may take a while to retrieve stuff at first, but it will speed up as your node is integrated into the network. Leave your node running if you can so that you contribute back to the network.
