Different sorts for different situations
I have a two-hour drive to drop the kids off at school and with the exception of during Friday's commute when what my six-year-old calls "the guessing game" is on (NPR's "Ask Me Another") we have podcasts on. I spent some time finding kid-friendly ones and settled on a few:
* The Video Game Generations
* Geek-to-Geek
* Citizens of Tech
* Super Best Friends Video Game Sleepover
Note, by kid-friendly I mean free of profanity and that reference things that the kids recognize (primarily video games we all play together).
After I drop them off I have others:
* Echo Screen Live
* DLC
* Current Geek
* About half-a-dozen others
I agree with other posters: The medium should really depend on the intended goal. I don't know if sites like I Fix It have videos because I've never looked. The illustrated walk through's are perfect. If I want to get an idea of how a board game plays, I'm not interested in reading a review, I check out Wil Wheaton's Tabletop. I tried an audio book once, for Les Miserables. Couldn't stand it. Got off my lazy butt and read the book.
Again, the situation (usually) dictates the medium. At least for me. YMMV. -
not-completely-off-topic
Listen the the podcast on 5x5 called "overtired". In episode 15, the incredible Christina Warren describes the shit that she gets every day, and how she deals with it. I have some hope that a younger generation of women like Ms Warren will be able to react to attacking idiots without disappearing from the 'net.

Re:Here is more from John Gruber of Daring Firebal
He was very critical of the guy who was going to "reorganize" Apple retail, that's no small thing :
"“Even if the customer experience is compromised” are Allen’s words, summarizing what he heard from his sources, not Browett’s. But if they’re accurate, it’s hard to conclude anything other than that Apple made a terrible decision hiring him."
That's just one of many criticisms. Apple fans are some of the most critical around, you just don't notice because you only follow their news sporadically. The attitude of Apple fans is best summed up by John Siracusa's podcast tagline : "Nothing is so perfect that it can't be complained about." They'll happily rant for hours about how Apple stuff is near perfection and they'll happily rant for hours more on how it can become just that little bit more prefect as well.

Pilots do it!
I was listening to Mac Power Users today, and they had an interview with a pilot today that said nearly 50% of pilots use an iPad as a replacement for expensive, bulky and very short shelf-life paper maps. So the pilots are running an iPad during take off and landing!

zfs
zfs! Works great. Included with FreeBSD 9, amongst other OSs.
You might also enjoy John Siracusa's exhaustive review of filesystems on one of my favorite podcasts.

Re:A though on why the iPhone 4 does not have Siri
Since there's not much of a technical reason the iPhone 4 cannot have Siri, I think a big part of why it's only on the 4s (and not even the iPad 2) is to help Apple understand server load from the service before it goes live for 100 million+ people.
Yes, I've heard Dan Benjamin complain on one of his podcasts that there's some disruption of Siri services when there's a large influx of users, such as when the US east coast wakes up. So this would seem to be at least part of the reasoning.

Re:Strangely inspirational
But unfortunately, you'll have to burn the sheets.
