Re:I could be wrong
According to this, this interview appears to be from last May 18th.
I suppose it could be a different one, but it's a Charlie Rose interview that discusses the same topics.

Re:Same old, same old...
You may have seen it on PBS. It's Charlie Rose show #2946, which first appeared on 18 May 2001.
You can order transcripts from here. -
You can order the video if you want
Videos episodes of the Charlie Rose show can be ordered from http://www.800-all-news.com/transcripts.shtml. Their online search engine doesn't return values up to the present, so you'll either have to do it over the phone (1-800-255-6397) or via email ( web-orders@800-ALL-NEWS.com. Since you get something of a discount when ordering multiple transcripts, you might also want to order last May's episode where Charlie Rose interviewed Linus about his book.

A link to Chuck-D-versus-Lars debate excerpts:
Excerpts from the Napster debate on Charlie Rose have been posted, but the whole interview is 20 minutes long. It's available (as a video or transcript) from 1-800-ALL-NEWS (1-800-255-6397).
The cameras do record Chuck D's bemused look while Lars is trying to explain technical issues (like how MP3s are perfect digital reproductions of the original masters).

Patent abuse as a business model
In an interview on Charlie Rose, Jay Walker suggests his Internet incubator "laboratory" is different from other web incubators because it is only interested in "patentable" ideas. He then goes on to suggest Priceline is a pricing service much like the NASDAQ.
Maybe this means the stock market could sue him.
The MS gimmick is pretty standard in patent law for dealing with patent abuse because a patent won't hold up if it's not original. It's also used by large corporations to monster-truck small competitors who have valid patents. ("You see, your honor, this obscure Frenchman in the 16th century had a similar notion, long before the 'Net was ever conceived." Try disproving that in court without millions of dollars and an armload of experts who claim to be "historians of science.") -
Bill's not a good liar
I appreciated the fair tone of both this analysis and the comments it brought out. There are many things I don't like about Bill Gates, but his detractors sometimes fail to recognize at least one point:
Bill gives it away whenever he tries to lie. This is readily apparent in his court testimony, his Congressional appearance, and the Charlie Rose interview he did the next day. So, those of us who reject much of what he says have to recognize that he believes it.
