A2 Hosting? More technically competent?
Does anyone have experience with A2 Hosting? They seem more technically capable that most hosts, who want the customers who get 5 hits per week.
A2Hosting offers PostgreSQL 8.4.x, Shell Access (SSH), SQLite 3.x, Cron Jobs, and Version Control: CVS, Subversion, Git (over SSH), and Mercurial.
I'm not completely happy with Powweb.com, and am looking for another provider. -
Re:Who has shared hosting with PostgreSQL?
There's a list of PostgreSQL hosting companies available. Last time I was picking one A2 and hub.org made my short list; there are plenty of others too.

Outsource web hosting. But, which provider?
It seems to me that, unless you have very special needs, you should hire someone else to do the work of providing web hosting. It's much cheaper to have a dedicated team do the work for thousands of servers than have your own team.
I've looked at A2 Hosting. I've never used them, and don't know anyone connected with them, but they seem like they know what they are doing.
I wouldn't recommend my present web host.
Does anyone else have recommendations about web hosting? -
Maybe A2 Hosting would be better than Powweb.
Those limits at Powweb are just for advertising. You will never be allowed to transfer 3 terabytes each month, apparently.
Also, Powweb is lacking in professionalism, in my experience.
Maybe A2hosting would be better, but I haven't tried them. -
Re:Automatic death sentence
I dunno, I'd consider $10/mo for 30 accounts (JTL) plus web space with POP/IMAP access in addition to the webmail client to be pretty cheap. Or the Small Business package at A2 which is only $8/mo for web space, IMAP/POP3/SMTP. Or FuseMail which is a little more expensive but has a nicer web interface.
Heck, one of the A2 plans is only $3/mo.
Some hosting companies even thrown in spam/virus filtering for free. -
Re:Using PHP5
We've been using http://www.a2hosting.com/ and have found their support to be excellent. They support PHP5 and MySQL 4.1...

PHP 5 Hosting
If anybody is interested, I found a great PHP5 hoster... they seem to keep up to date with stuff and support is really on the money.
