Re:Gah!
I think Michael Moore is a patriot, and is doing something very necessary. Of course, the people on the Right will tell you that you shouldn't listen to him because HE'S FAT,
Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot
Fucking right-wing smear-tactic. -
Re:not censored
I checked out Rish Limbaugh's site, and it appears that he hosts his streaming media on a different server(stream.rushlimbaugh.com). It also takes being a subscriber(which I'm not) to get.
Being at work, air america's site is indeed, blocked. On the other hand, Al's site isn't blocked.
Can somebody with access to air america's site verify whether or not it has streaming media availabe from the same url? -
Re:OMG
You are hereby sentenced to watch Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism 666 times, and to read Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right 666,666 times.

Al Franken's latest."Lies and the lying liars who tell them" is not only funny and gives your daughter a solid political foundation, but also portrays the author as a pretty geeky dad, caring well for his children but also up for silly pranks.
It also teaches her a solid mistrust of all things Fox, which should always be encouraged.
...and don't forget to vote. -
Re:bad advice
Yes, alert all your fellow communists, calling my posts leftist, when they're clearly nothing of the kind. But then, when Stalin called himself "communist", he was playing the same Orwellian media game as you, Anonymous fascist Coward. But I can play the game better, easily reducing your bullshit to ashes.
Let's start with O'Reilly. The simple answer to your wrong question is "endless denial to keep his job as corporate flack for Rupert Murdock's media empire makes him delusional". The question you'd ask, if you had any grip on rhetoric, but your same slippery grasp on sense, would be "how can I tell that he's delusional?", amply answered in the popular Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them. Al Franken's got your nutjob's number. And anyone else watching him with an iota of scepticism can easily suss his style of steamrolling the truth, baiting guests, and padding his lies with buzzwords promoting their feigned truth. You've eaten the the wrong pill, AC.
And the jury's out on "fair trade", considering it's as imaginary as the "communism" bugbear that lurks under your bed. Meanwhile, your boy O'Reilly is a TV star, spewing whatever bullshit pays his rent. Of course, that makes him a good followup to the Bushmatic infesting the White House right now. But if the universe turned totally insane long enough to get O'Reilly into the job, the cackler would immediately start reading from whatever new script his "producers" hand him. That's the kind of spineless idiot that any enemy of the US would love to see in power, just like they can't get enough of Bush, presiding over the greatest transfer of wealth to China ever, led by the US. That fool O'Reilly has kept Bush running the show to China's benefit, and would happily see decades more of his deranged, antiAmerican rule. PS: I am smart, you are not.
American labor has always been under the gun - usually literally. Even your admission that 15-20 years ago (mid-late 1980s) labor really hit the skids here coincides with Reagan's sharpest union-busting tactics. O'Reilly worships Reagan (on air, at least - in his private time, I'd bet he worships only O'Reilly, and maybe a crude bloody sketch of Abraxas). To the degree that O'Reilly has the coherence to have an "economic policy", it's obvious that he'd strip labor of any rights at all, so he could pocket the difference.
O'Reilly would probably agree (if he could agree with anything, considering the venom that relentlessly spews from his mouth) with Alan Greenspan, that labor's health is best prolonged by keeping it starved, working, and pushed to the brink of exhaustion, like a rat. That isn't the answer, either, unless you're guaranteed the star treatment, envious of the unionized labor which actually has coworkers who they trust.
PPS: I'm smart, and you are not. Go cozy back up to the TV, at least until they show you more substantial talking points to quote. -
Re:WrongReading a children's book is a good example. What the fsck did you want the president to do? Throw the book up in the air and scream like a madman? Instantly launch a bunch of counterstrikes at a then unknown target? Hold a press conference within five minutes to present a weepy announcement?
Actually, holding *some* sort of a press conference would have been reasonable, but really, I'm puzzled by the idea that he might not have decided to just stand up, appologize to the class, say that he has important business to tend to, and leave. What did he do instead? What would *you* have done? Just sat there?
Moore didn't portray the event so much as he showed actual footage of it taking place. Actually, he spared the audience much of the ( extremely uncomfortable ) seven minutes.
That Moore showed it was just predictable. That you'd think Bush's reaction to news that the WTC was blown up is to sit for seven minutes is a BFD-class molehill is what's bizarre. I suppose detaining US citizens without access to a lawyer is a BFD-class molehill as well... as is shuttling the Bin Laden family out of the US while other commercial traffic is grounded... no, you're not a Bush supporter at all
;-)I'm encouraging everyong to read this book. These are some pretty damn big molehills.

Re:As a U.S. Citizen...So, uh, was the repeal of the estate tax "across-the-board" ?!?
Care to refute analysis provided by a previous post which indicates you have the facts completely wrong? According to that chart, the top 1% of earners got a 5% tax reduction, and the *most* any other income group saw was a 1.4% reduction!
I'm sorry, I want to be really fair about this, but in any analysis, even percentage-paid-based, the majority of this administration's tax cuts ( especially if you include the estate tax ) are heavily weighted towards the very, very wealthy.
Ever get the feeling you've been lied to? I don't suppose you'd like to read "Lies and the Lying Liers Who Tell Them" for an amusing analysis of GW's twisted logic on this topic, which you've apparently decided to take as truth? Every Bush supporter and Fox News watcher should read it...
I do believe the war on terror is the single most important issue of the day- and I believe invading Iraq had nothing to do with the war on terror, and that GW is the last guy we want in office while trying to hunt down a Bin Laden! WHY would you think this guy is good at getting rid of terrorists?!? So far, he's done little more than provide a fertile breeding ground for terrorists in Iraq... and used Bill Clinton's army to drive Al-Queda in Afganistan into hiding, something *any* administration would have done...

Mod me down, astro-turfing bitches!
[Sorry for the title, but with so much noise on this topic, I figured I'd have to do an Al Franken to get noticed.]
For the first time ever on slashdot, I gave up reading even the highest modded contents.
ATTENTION: MS Shills
When you're given your talking points, try not to quote them. Seeing the same key phrases in post after post makes you all look like - I have to say it - the Borg. Besides, it's hard to fake a groundswell when everyone arrives chanting the same slogan.
Also, you're not going to be effective if you monopolise the high karma. Let a few honest posts drift up to the top as well. It's called camouflage.
I don't know who's paying for this astroturf, but it sure needs trimming
