Re:Too much UNIX for me
In many Windows apps (e.g. Notepad, Eclipse), both the CUA and Mac (my easy favorite of the two) sets work. The last version of Anvil Studio I tried (which was rather long ago) was more annoying in that regard though: it supported one (or both) of Ctrl+C and Ctrl+X for editing music, but Paste was solely Shift+Ins. Many awkward finger movements resulted.

Re:Don't forget ModPlug
It's not open source but Anvil Studio is free and runs on Windows, for those who don't currently have the Linux option.

Some ideas...
http://www.8notes.com/ looks promising they're free at least. If you want more recent songs, you'll usually have to pay to download them from commercial sites, but you can save and print them right away after paying. http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/ is a good example.
Another thing you can do is find a midi of what you want to play (use a midi search engine: http://www.musicrobot.com/ or http://www.vanbasco.com/midisearch.html ) and open in a sequencer and print the track(s) you want. Anvil Studio is a free program which can do this. http://www.anvilstudio.com/ -
Re:Midi?
Anvil Studio was one of my favorite editors... no less than three years ago when I last used it.
You may wish to investigate FInale, although I believe that will cost you a pretty penny these days. -
Anvil Studio
Not that I have any real musical ability, but I like to screw around with Anvil Studio. Not a bad piece of software, and the 20 dollar add ons look fun too.
