Re:Worst Catastrophe In History
Supposedly, the Saudis already successfully deployed super tankers in conjunction with something like the oil collecting ships mentioned above to deal with an absolutely massive spill that happened there in the 90's. The guy in the article claims they were able to recover 85% of ~800 million gallons that were spilled. http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/could-cleanup-fix-for-gulf-oil-spill-lie-in-secret-saudi-disaster/19476863 Could this work on the gulf, or is the oil too widely dispersed for it to be effective? Or is is just too expensive?

If answers are from one source all could be wrong
Look up ``siphon'' in Oxford's English Dictionary --- for 99 years or so it's wrongly described the functional process as using air pressure, not gravity:
http://www.aolnews.com/2010/05/11/for-99-years-oxford-english-dictionary-got-it-wrong/19472844/?icid=main|main|dl1|link7|http://www.aolnews.com/2010/05/11/for-99-years-oxford-english-dictionary-got-it-wrong/19472844/
How will Google cross-check to make sure all ``facts'' aren't based on the same incorrect statement?

Really? Heard of priest-scientists? Re:All civil "marriages" are misnamed
In the 1400s and 1500s
Why look that far away? In the 1700s and 1800s, some American colonies (and states) didn't allow Baptists to marry.
Remember that when conservatives write Jefferson out of our history to fit their religious worldview.

Re:How are we supposed to understand this?
The Pentagon had their chance to release the video and explain themselves at the press conference covering the attack. In fact, David Petraeus said he would. Then they could have shown from the video footage that there were two guys with assault rifles, and that it would have been impossible to tell that there were two children in the van, and that the camera looks like an RPG from head on, and that they (supposedly) followed the rules of engagement. They could have cut out some of the audio and the images of the Hummer driving over dead bodies. Instead they denied Reuters the video despite repeated FOIA requests, and proceeded to lie about how the children were injured.
My hunch was that Petraeus thought they were following the rules of engagement, and then when they looked at the video later they realized it was worse than they thought, and decided not to release the video. I don't have the experience or understanding to know what's going on either, but those in the Pentagon do. If they're not comfortable releasing the video because they can't justify what happened, and they have to subsequently lie about certain important details, it means that someone screwed up. -
Here is some more good news
Rush will be leaving.
http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/rush-limbaugh-says-hell-leave-the-us-if-health-care-reform-is-passed/19389808Hell, even if I was against it, I would vote for it if it meant that liar left the country.
Ironically, Costa Rica has universal health care.

Re:I don't have health insurance.
Just one, I'm sure there are more: http://www.aolnews.com/opinion/article/opinion-obamas-health-care-myths-exposed/19402359 [aolnews.com]
Umm, that linked article is an opinion piece that says it would "threaten people with jail time" but provides no citation. He doesn't even use the correct term since jail would be for a local offense and prison for a federal crime. You'll have to do a lot better than that, like a citation in the bill, perhaps. I searched the text of it and there were no matches for "prison," "imprisonment," or "jail". I can give you a hundred references and cite the portion of the bill where is says you can be fined up to $750 per uninsured adult in a household. I can't find anything about a prison sentence. I'm calling bullshit on this one, unless you can provide a real citation.

already done
I realized I hadn't seen any photos of the new bay so I hit Google News for a search. I know the likes of AOL and USA Today are derided for their superficial news coverage, but the first story had what I wanted: a photo of the new bay.
AOL News on Tranquility Bay Window
As it turns out, the image was taken AFTER the windows were already opened. First thought: stale stories on Slashdot, no surprise there. Second thought: where is the Emperor's chair? I know George Lucas is having fun with the design on that new bay window.

Re:Heroes, not criminals.
I think it's a bit of a stretch to call Scientologists "terrorists" at the very least.
More importantly, though, if you justify acts of violence by saying "oh, they're extremists" or "oh, nobody likes them," then perhaps next time you'll be in the group that gets acted out against.
Violence? We're talking about making a website not load here. It's scientology that practices violence.
Scientologists aren't popular because their beliefs are corny or stupid, or because the "church" engages in fraudulent practices and is known to abuse members; that doesn't mean that individual Scientologists are religious extremists or bad people any more than the fact that Osama Bin Laden is a Muslim means that all Muslims are terrible people. Scientologists are just a popular group to hate right now.
Scientologists are a popular group to hate because they constantly engage in activities that are undeniably evil. The comparison to Islam is deceptive; scientology is a single organization, while Islam is not. Not every muslim answers to Osama bin Laden, while every scientologist answers to David Miscavige.
