Re:No thanks...
Your data is not as important as you think. (Talking about personal, not business here)
All from the bank and what not will still be at the bank. The access to the bank will be restored. The data I have given the IRS will still be somewhere available.Look seriously at your data and see if they are 'must have' and 'nice to have'. Hint: pictures of your kids, your music and your movie collection is 'nice to have'. Except for perhaps 100 emails (if that much) keeping emails is nice to have when older than 7 days.
There might be some things that you need to have, but that would easily fit on a USB key. Automate it that when you get home, you put in the USB key on your key chain (now you also always know where your keys are) and let that do the backup.
A solution would even be to put something like this one at the door and make it even easier. -
Buy the books
If you live in Europe, you can buy THHGTTG with amazing discounts. Not affiliated with bol.com, just a satisfied customer and also surprised that they actually give discounts on this special day.

Re:It's Amazon's business
Happened in the Netherlands, bol.com became the largest online bookstore, because amazon just couldn't be bothered to cater the Dutch market. Though we have our share of religious fundamentalists in the Netherlands, I don't think amazon will ever make it to the Dutch market successfully with their current attitude. That said, the german version of amazon shows normal books on homosexuality just fine in their first result page, so maybe it's just an US thing.

Re:Stupid and pointlessVista cheaper in Europe, yeah right: USofA$117.49
The Netherlandseuro 208,99.As you can see even now this product is sold by others, not MS.
And ill-informed as you are you didn't realise the vast majority of MS OS products are sold under an OEM re branding, meaning you can't even call MS for support...
When you're done with the chest hairs of the European Commissioner for Competition please report back

alternatives...
for those of you who (like me) dislikes amazons use of patents, show it by buying your books elsewhere. two good examples of elsewhere are:
from europe: www.bol.com
from the us: www.barnesandnoble.com
time to put your money where your mouth is, of something to that effect...

Amazon.com?
I seem to recall being urged to avoid Amazon at all costs not so long ago due to their patent of 'one click' purchasing? Is this still on? Just in case here is an alternative link.

Boycot Amazon!
The most effective way to boycot Amazon and to force them to come down with this silly stupid patent issue, is to buy your books online elsewhere, for example at Barnes and Nobles, the very same company that Amazon attacked in fist place.

Re:Book Shopping
Does anyone know a good, English-language technical bookstore that is online in Europe (except for Amazon-UK)? I live in Spain, and the markup on English technical texts here is brutal (often double). You could try www.bol.com (Books Online). They have it for 24.29 UKP. Hmm...just had a look through their Spanish Language version, and the book doesn't seem to be there....dunno what's up with that, cos it's on the UK one.
Oh yeah, the other thing is that they call it "The Pragmatic Program" but the ISBN number finds it OK. Hope this helps

Re:No amazon please! (OT)Okay, okay.

But nobody shops at B&N, so you don't get all the nice reviews
And I'm not sure Bertelsmann have sussed the idea of links yet.
