Re:Care to share? Also, what I'd like.
I haven't been able to make this work consistently - what steps do you take to make this work?
Basic install of Gnome on Debian testing release. Haven't played with it settings wise that I can remember, so I couldn't tell you exactly how it's configured. I just did a test, and found that clicking on the title bar to bring the window forward causes the newly loaded program to come in behind what you're working on.
What I did was this:
Had Firefox opened to a page in Snapfiles.com. Clicked the download link, which opened up the FF download manager. I then clicked the icon for Nautilus on my Gnome menu, then clicked the title bar on the download manager to refocus it. When Nautilus loaded, it came in behind the Download manager, but in front of the main snapfiles.com FF window.
See if you can duplicate this, and if not, fire me off an email to the contact address on my http://www.cbserviceslondon.com/ website, and I'll dig through my configuration and see if I can figure out what I've done. -
Re:blue screens?
That's also why companies such as Dell make so much money -- they provide a fully-supported system with verified drivers. Computers you get from, say, www.cyberpowersystem.com or pieced together from Newegg parts are less likely to be consistent.
HAHAHA!! Dell! Whoohoohoo! Consistent! Hee, hee, oooh, that's a good one! You really need to take a look at what's inside a few Dells on occasion.....

Re:Invalid Opinion
I'd like to know where you can get a well-made PC with good tech support, because that's where I'll point all my friends who refuse to buy macs. Then maybe I'll have less tech support to do.
If you're talking 24/7 1-800 tech support, there is no such thing that I know of. If the company wants that kind of tech support, they have to cut costs in the machine, which means cheap crap.
If you're talking good technicians who know what the heck they're talking about, where you can phone or email for tech support and get a response back from the guy who built the machine, rather than some script-following punk, there are plenty of companies around that can manage that.
Two in my area are Compudata Systems and (shameless plug alert) CB Services. Yes, the last one is my business, but regardless, it still fits your qualifications. -
Re:Uh oh...
Go check out his blog for rant #2, where he goes on at length about how his Sony and Dell boxes are giving him trouble, and their warranty support sucks.
I don't know about Sony, but Dell is horrendous for mix-n-match hardware.
Mix-n-match hardware isn't what's causing his Windows problems.

Re:Why is it better?
I keep hearing this, and I have no idea where it comes from.
http://www.cbserviceslondon.com/FireFox/FirefoxMem Usage.png
Over 4 hours CPU time, and using less than 4.5MB RAM. Do you know how long you have to keep a browser running to use 4 hours of CPU time? Weeks. What did I do to get this figure? Nothing, really. I cleared the cache, then looked what it was using.
Hell, explorer.exe is taking over three times what Firefox is, and it does jack all in comparison.
I don't know where you get your memory usage figures from, but it's certainly not my experience..... -
