    Why not try Bob Stern instead. He's listed as the publisher for the mathematics and statistics arm of CRC press.


    A politely worded commemnt to him may have better results.

    This was one of the more valuable reference works on the web, and
    will be missed by students and professionals alike.

    Purchasing your CDROM is not an option for many people. CDROM's are
    slow, and errors take a long time to correct, if ever. Having this
    information on the web means easy access, frequent updates, and many
    willing contributors to spot errors and correct them.

    Some reference material works best in books. Mathworld was an ideal
    combination of links between subjects, and links to other references
    on the web. Compared to the value of Eric's work, a book seems
    outmoded and useless.

    Why don't you let Eric proceed with his work? You would gain
    valuable friends in the academic and engineering communities, and
    help students who would then purchase your professional books later.

    It seems that is the right thing to do.

    Email them anyway.

    Every second faceless corporate website I look at seems to provide next to no contact details for anything other than "Order Enquiries". CRC's website seems to be one of them. The only email even remotely close was orders@crcpress.com so I've sent them off a polite message telling them that I am a both a book nut and a technical person and that I will never buy another one of their books ever if they proceed with this lawsuit.

    In the meantime I'm doing my bit through google's cache like has been suggested.

    I sent a polite but determined message to orders@crcpress.com. That seems to be their general-purpose customer service contact.

    They have every right to expect a fair profit from a book they have contracted, but this is ridiculous. In my email I suggested that a better strategy would be to ask Wolfram to insert a small ad for the printed book on the site. I for one didn't know it even came in a printed version.

    I really hope this gets resolved. It was one of the Internet's better points of reference.
