I think "rock" is synonymous with boring.

I daresay that geologists will disagree with you. So clearly, "boring" is not a scientific measure, it lacks objectivity.

Some of these canyons are very wide, with large flat bottoms, but you don't even have to go for the worst canyons

The radar directed skycrane mechanism used for Curiosity, with a little more fuel could probably drop in much tighter quarters that they've been willing to try so far.

We've got enough orbiters that the communications windows are also less of a problem.
I think the rovers need bigger diameter wheels. It would reduce wheel wear and wheel loading, and allow traversing much more cluttered ground, and perhaps steeper slopes.

if you looked at it, you are thinking the same thing i am: this rover is a knock-off of our previous rover model.

It starts, with a killer asteroid hurling towards the earth.

Our hero is summoned, and immediately springs into action.

He sets out with his trusty weapon to save the world from the danger of the week.

After a long and awesome journey, he finally reach his destination.

Finally there, he slowly takes aim, breathes, and fire at The Killer Meteor. The meteor, alerted to his presence, fights back. What follows is a long action sequence only slowing down now and then so our hero can do manly poses.

After a long battle, and lots of shooting and fishing was done, there was only a small fragment left, just enough to spend the CGI budget, and show everyone how dangerous The Killer Meteor could have been.

No one was killed, and the world was again saved thanks to our hero.

If someone overlaid a map of UFO sightings over the top of this...

Anyone who hasn't seen a drone in flight - most people in the continental US for example - wouldn't be able to identify it, I mean consider a Predator drone. Its a weird-looking fucker at the best of times, now imagine seeing it lit up by a setting sun, flitting through low cloud... The Martians are coming, the Martians are coming!!!!!!! Definitely an "Unidentified Flying Object".

And for gods same, don't try to take a photo of it with a long lens, while wearing arab dress.
