Re:One word
Here are two PCB sellers in HK who ship overseas:
http://www.onepcbsolution.com/
http://www.hkmingdi.com/enindex.aspI found them off the forum of this site:
http://www.deadharddrive.com/I wrote a short post about it in French, you can probably run it in google-translate. It took me a bit of time to figure out the PCB number on my Seagate drive, which is on the PCB, but on the side facing the disk, so I had to unscrew it to obtain it. (both HK sites were helpful and responded to my e-mails in good English).

Re:platter swap should do it
And so has someone else
;) -
This guy registered a whole domain!
Who would want his own domain just for a short l'il story like that?
-
Too bad for him...
When he booted up, he found a virus on his machine. Tsk tsk...*almost* a happy ending. ;) -
Re:Obviously...
OTOH here's a 'techy' guy running winXP Home. I assume many things surprise him.

Re:Yeah, kind of cool hack..Yes, I do think that a cron event would work just fine with this boot up sequence.
Like I said you he should have returned in the weekend in the middle to do the backup.
