Re:Indeed
Great comment! I feel most people don't see the forest for all the trees in this issue. We're NOT poorer now than 20-40 years ago. On the contrary, standards of living have all gone up and we have more "power" over our future and environment now than ever. The only "thing" holding the world back now, is the money system itself! Think about it, as physical and mental labour increasingly gets replaced by machinery, we're going to have to deal with a different kind of economy: resource based economy.
In short: The money system dictates or facilitates a scarcity-based economy, rewarding those who contribute more goods to the scarcity pool. We're actually moving away from that, since scarcity in the world is getting less and less. Already, feeding all humans on the planet is just a logistical and economical problem, not one of actual food-shortage. However, a problem which the money system itself is preventing a solution for! So we need to go to resource-based economy, where science gives us the crystal ball answers on how to best manage our world and population.
This video deals with this issue in full (it's long). It's NOT a conspiracy movie, but an insightful peek into a hopeful future if only people start seeing the forest:

However, one day or another, we're going to have to deal with what happens when there is no scarcity anymore and our money-system is unable to deal with the consequences. I regard this video as an insightful inspiration to what lies ahead, but of course, not the full answer.

Re:I don't get you lot
Because copyright is theft from the public domain. It's trivially demonstrable that copyright hinders innovation and the economy. Food and clothing are not covered by copyrights and you would find it hard to suggest food and fashion industries are lacking creativity. Further, gross sales of goods in low IP industries vastly outstrip sales in high IP industries.
Johanna Blakley on the topic [Transcript].
Copyright is unethical. And it harms the economy. Get rid of it.

Re:Video down?
An English subtitled version can be found here until that also runs out of bandwidth. Also a link to a version on YouTube but this is with Japanese subtitles only.
