Re:It's going to be unnecessary
Intrigued, I did some google searching about bladeless wind turbines and there are some links but perhaps not any actual real life comparisons. Do you know of any such?
It seems to me though, from what I've heard recently, that a bladed wind turbine extracts power from the area that the blades cover whereas a rotating cylinder would only extract power from the area near the cylinder, even if the cylinders were arranged in a more traditional configuration and the catavent system would seem to intercept even less wind

Cheap, economical, 5 buttons, scroll wheel, wireless, battery free, optical, good resolution and sensitivity. Did I miss anything? -
Re:useful energy is not free
More Info Who knows if they are economically viable, but I drive over such bumps in car parks all the time, and all they there for are to remind you to slow down. If they can generate some power at the same time, what difference does it make?

Re:Get some of those BUDs in that other thread
solar panel, battery and a small wind genny should do just fine. That's how most weather stations 'up north' are being powered and it would work quite well for a small low power router. There is a Canadian company in the rockies that makes really nice hardware for just that purpose, check out valemount networks http://www.staros.com/
here is another example.

Re:CMOS = Power Efficient???
How long will it be before my computer heats my house while I browse the internet? When does the first combined datacenter and heating cogeneration system get installed?
About two months ago. http://www.ecofriend.org/entry/ibm-manages-to-warm-pool-water-with-its-heat-emissions/ -
Re:Why pay to cool & heat things in the same h
Like IBM p575 or heating pools with data centers?
