Re:Mike Nelson has already been doing this
RiffTrax is Mike plus other people, sometimes other MST3K people.
But don't forget The Film Crew. It's Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett riffing on bad old movies. Episodes are released direct to DVD. They do appear onscreen (although not in silhouette form). A few episodes are already available.

Re:Humor controlled by the humorless
From what I understand, that was Jim Fallon
First of all, it's Mallon, not Fallon. His name is even in the Slashdot summary of this article! ... Fallon filed suit against Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett ... over their Film Crew series of DVD releases
I found some forum posts mentioning "a lawsuit", "legal trouble", or "threats" but I wasn't able to find anything reliable. Do you have any confirmed sources about a suit being filed?
In any case, the Film Crew DVDs are available so nothing came of the suit, if there ever was one. -
Re:Mike Nelson has already been doing this
You can also order the new Mike (film crew) movies through http://www.filmcrewonline.com/ And I just noticed them on Netflix - I'm looking forward to head to head competition right in my living room!

Re:Rifftrax
I was thinking the exact same thing, then I thought, "Wait! This is a doup!" But a little checking around would seem to show that they indeed are, all three, united in a new project. They've been The Film Crew for a while, but they seem to be jumping in on actual DVD releases now as we can see on The Film Crew's website the link for which seems to be missing in the article. Still, though, this is pretty old news. I remember voting for my 'first release' several months, if not a year, back. That could've been which to riff first I suppose, though.

Since TFA has so many spiffy ads...
Here's a link to the actual Film Crew Online page. They've got an open vote to determine which of the four movies they're doing in their initial set is published first...Thankfully, not a winner in the bunch.

What crap
ok so the link on slashdot doesnt even go to the http://www.filmcrewonline.com/ website, but rather some dude's lame blog with lame ads. Oh, and I'm not even sure they even do this anymore, since they've been busy with RiffTrax, and their official website hasn't changed in a long time. What a terrible slashvertisement by man-in-the-middle proxy (go to my website to go to the real one).

Re:What else to say than...It's funny you'd mention MST3k in relation to SW.
Mike Nelson and one of the bots (Kevin Murphy) have recently set up their new website, where they present:
"FILM CREW'S REMAKES III, Summer of the Clones"
They announce such new movies as "Batman, the pregnency", and "King KoRn". It's definately worth a look.
