E3 - Pre-Show Announcements Overwhelm, Entertain
Thanks to GameSpot for its massive E3 update list, GameSpy for a similar E3 index, IGN for its latest E3 news, and 1UP for its E3 dispatches, as the major gaming sites update on "hundreds of new games" revealed leading up to the E3 Expo in Los Angeles. New highlights include an "epic three-hour press conference" revealing Konami's new games, including screenshots of Metal Gear Acid for PSP, and elsewhere, screenshots and a preview of Metroid Prime Hunters for Nintendo DS, the announcement and screenshots of "unique armband"-toting EyeToy: AntiGrav for PS2, preview and screenshots of Mario 64x4 for Nintendo DS, and much, much more. Alternative GameCube GBA Adapter Launched
An anonymous reader writes "GamesIndustry.biz has the scoop that Datel will be launching an alternative GameBoy Advance player for the GameCube, an unofficial third-party device that plugs into the memory slot of the GameCube. The Advance Game Port will be smaller than the official GameBoy Player, and play GBA games only, but is cheaper (30 GBP) then the Nintendo version (40 GBP)." No word on US release, but it's interesting to speculate/dream that Datel could theoretically make devices to adapt other Nintendo systems to GameCube. -
Toyota Gets Special Gran Turismo 4 Version
Thanks to GamesAsylum for the news that Toyota have commissioned a special car-specific version of Gran Turismo 4, to encourage Japanese consumers to buy its latest hybrid car. In this Toyota Prius-featuring deal, "Toyota have installed GT Force Pro steering wheel equipped PlayStation 2 booths running the game in their Japanese showrooms, so customers can have a virtual test drive." The Magic Box has some more screenshots of the special Gran Turismo 4 Prius Trial Version, which will be available to play next month, ahead of the game's release, and is "not for resale". -
Tokyo Game Show Titles Trailed
Thanks to Gamers.com for their massive list of all the games showing at the Tokyo Game Show, which kicks off on September 26th in Japan. The list "...omits whatever games that companies are saving as surprises for the show", including the widely-rumored Kingdom Hearts 2 from Square Enix, but highlights include Astro Boy and the Altered Beast remake from Sega, the new Front Mission titles from Square Enix, the wacky Mojib Ribbon and mech-heavy Chain Dive from Sony, as well as Capcom's wholesale licensing of notable Western titles, adding the Sony-created Mark Of Kri, The Getaway, and War Of The Monsters to their already-released Grand Theft Auto.
