Most, without issues?. Not all? What does most mean to us?

The NAS (The National Academies of Science (NAS) report, Health Risks from Exposure to Low Levels of Ionizing Radiation,) finding had long ago been discovered and presented by John Gofman, M.D., Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California and Chairman of the Committee for Nuclear Responsibility (CNR). Dr. Gofman said the following in 1994:

The lowest dose of ionizing radiation is one nuclear track through one cell...Either a track goes through the nucleus and affects it, or it doesn't...I came up with nine studies of cancer being produced where we're dealing with up to maybe eight or 10 tracks per cell. Four involved breast cancer ... it's not a question of 'We don't know.' The DOE has never refuted this evidence. They just ignore it, because it's inconvenient. We can now say, there cannot be a safe dose of radiation. There is no safe threshold. If this truth is known, then any permitted radiation is a permit to commit murder.

Critics complain that nuclear energy is expensive because of (1) the time and resources it takes to build and decommission nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities; (2) the hidden costs of mining the uranium ores, reprocessing and storing the waste, and purging the environment of radioactive pollution; and (3) costly health problems from exposure to low level radiation. The Department of Energy (DOE) has admitted that, "economic viability for a nuclear plant is difficult to demonstrate."

Thomas Cochran, a nuclear physicist and Director of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) says that nuclear power is "uneconomical, it has a safety problem, it has a horrendous proliferation problem on the global level, and it has a long-term waste problem that hasn't been solved."iii He notes that "nuclear power would be a great solution to greenhouse gases" that cause global warming, were it not for those four problems!

"There is actually a treatment for Autism that is a change in diet and increase in nutritional supplements that has been proven to work in a few hundred patients."

There is no scientific evidence backing nutritional treatment of autism. Evidence for it is entirely anecdotal. Usually the person who has improved under a special diet has also been undergoing other treatments such as behavioral therapy so causality is hard to establish. In addition, gaging improvement is pretty subjective.

Personally, I'm very sceptical of claims that diet is the cause or the cure for problems. For virtually any disorder out there, there is someone advancing a diet that can treat it, like depression anger bad sex or aging. I think people just like to feel they are in control of things, and controlling what they eat gives them that feeling.

Ritalin is methylphenidate. it is a derivative of methamphetamine. another common drug used to treat ADHD is Adderal(sp?). Adderal is dextroamphetamine-hydrobromide. These are TERRIBLE drugs to put kids on. How do i know? i used these 2 as speed for many years. It is nothing but high quality speed.My brother was diagnosed with ADHD many years ago, and has been taking Ritalin (at first) and Adderal (now) for at least 15 years, and he only gets worse and worse. I can tell when he's taken it because all he wants to do is talk and act completely ridiculous. When he's coming down, you can tell because he starts to get moody and even combative sometimes. It took me the better part of a year to get rid of my dependency, and I HIGHLY recommend you seek alternative treatment, even if it means medication that's at least non-amphetamine derived. You wouldn't want to make your kid sniff cocaine every morning, would you? I know I blew off cocaine in FAVOR of these drugs because the high lasts a lot longer. Save your kid's life and get her off that shit. My whole family is completely screwed now and the only thing that could fix it is a time machine. It makes me sad to see my brother the way he is every day, but there's nothing i can do about it. Please get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion.. maybe even check out Gary Null. (ignore the 'healing with magnets' stuff though.)

Think about the thermodynamics of the situation for a moment. The plants produce energy, the energy comes from converting radioactivity into heat. So the total amount of radioactivity has to decline, right?

To put what sumocide said a little clearer, radioactivity is an emission from the atom's nucleus. Fission is not the process of collecting these emissions to heat water. Fission is forcing this breakdown in a controlled chain reaction to heat water. Most importantly, the atom you end up with is not gauranteed to be safer in any way.

The clean-up technologies don't neatly separate from the production technologies. For example if you're really good at cleaning up stray particles of radioactive metals, you may be able to do it inside the gates of the plant. So that's prevention, right?

Good point. The reason I brought up this horribly offtopic thread is that we make the assuption that we fully understand the problem. We fully understand the effects of genetic engineering. Check out this to see what I'm saying:

Sounds a little like Microsoft. =) They even talk about it in terms of OS's. Furthermore, there is evidence that genetically engineered corn is killing the monarch butterfly, and bees feeding off genetically engineered food live shorter lives and have less ability to recognise flower smells. Do you think the genetic engineers really reserched that? hell no.

I know that you think that people who question this are just "old-fashioned" or crazy but really I think it is good to educate yourself in the opposition's view. Sometimes it is over the top and reactionary. Much like your average linux zealot.

Try to remember that we do not live on this planet alone and despite what corporations would like you to think, we have not tested a lot of technologies fully. Money is the only rule for them and they will not stop until you do something.
