Re:Microsoft just got 1-Uped
It's been mentioned elsewhere (but not here as far as I can tell) that this development is particularly notable, given that Windows doesn't support Exchange out of the box.
But, most linux distributions have for the past 6 months (thanks to evolution-mapi). And that's not even counting the previous support (based on the OWA API) that was available via evolution-exchange
... and neither requires you upgrade to Exchange 2007 (but evolution-mapi supports Exchange 2007, where the old OWA API is no longer available). -
Re:The problem remains... groupware
A proper MAPI connector will be here soon (hopefully next gnome release)

Re:The problem remains... groupware
From the list of packages in Jaunty's repository, I'm guessing you can dump the evolution-exchange package in favor of evolution-mapi.
"A provider for Evolution that can connect to Exchange 2007 servers and also to Exchange 2003, 2000 and 5.5."

Re:Here we go again.....
Exchange 2007 deprecated the Outlook Web Access protocol that Evolution depended on for interoperability. As another Linux user in an Exchange corporate environment, I am anxiously awaiting the day that the Evolution MAPI plugin (which depends on the Samba4 and Openchange libraries) is functional. I've been compiling the development code for the last month, and it's been hit and miss. If anyone is interested: Evolution MAPI tarballs released and the Openchange Evolution MAPI blog.

Re:OpenChange
The most recent comments I've read indicate that the MAPI plugin for Evolution (which is built upon OpenChange libmapi) will not be ready for Evolution 2.24 after all. Perhaps version 2.26 will have what we're waiting for.

Evolution on WindowsSee here.
It mentions building it from sources with links to pre-compiled binaries, even an installer.
