Re:This does seem a bit excessive.
OK. My original search had the word download in it, so a slightly different ad was shown. But calling that "the polar opposite of deceptive" shows your bias. Why is this ad only showing up for localised google sites for countries with weak consumer protection laws? European and US law would not see this as the polar opposite of deceptive.
They are not simply displaying the search terms as the link either, they have deliberately crafted the ads to have those deceptive links in a way which would cause other advertisers to have their ads removed under the terms and conditions of the service.

Google tries to do what they can get away with. Don't be fooled by the "don't be evil" motto.

Re:more concerned about israels nukes.
Could you point to my lies then?
Zionism is a political movement (based on your own references). My opinion is that it is an extremnist movement which has has caused uncountable problems in last 50 years.
For the mistranslation of Ahmadinejad's speech take a look at Google:

Now what lies did I say?

Re:Reminds me of Hillis
Exactly! New is the new old. A million processors? Pah! Old hat. There has been done lots of interesting research into parallel processing in the past. Read the Connection Machine book It's a great read.
Feynman was also involved with the machine at a certain point. There's a great writeup on him and it for a quick introduction: '.. It was a complicated device; by comparison, the processors themselves were simple. Connecting a separate communication wire between each pair of processors was impractical since a million processors would require $10^{12]$ wires. Instead, we planned to connect the processors in a 20-dimensional hypercube so that each processor would only need to talk to 20 others directly. ..'
The C-5 looked awesome as well. And I'll just keep quiet about all the cool Lisp stuff they did on it. -
Re:CPUs may be a better point than you think.
"as much competition as other high-tech sectors"
I wish there were even half that amount of competition and innovation in the furniture sector.
It's been bugging me for years that you can't get a good chair for a reasonable price (compared to the progress in the high tech sector). One with an adjustable back to seat angle, adjustable overall tilt angle and adjustable height from floor. With decent padding and shape so you don't get pressure sores, and it actually feels comfortable sitting in it.
I mean it takes how long before you get people to figure out that sitting up straight isn't that good for your back? Sitting up straight, or in those common but crappy chairs sure didn't feel good to me. And it's not even the furniture industry that was interested to find out:

I guess someone in the USA may now start to sue the furniture makers for damaging them, just like the tobacco industry ;). -

The funny one is having >=1 GB of memory makes it fail with windows ;).
But if your notebook has crap drivers/hardware that cause bsods, Microsoft/Linux distro XYZ can't do much about those.
Apple has more control over what goes into an ibook so it's no surprise hibernate works better. -
