Re:With all major parties on board
May I assume that the Greens are not a major party yet? Or have they aligned themselves with one of them? And are they speaking up? They received no mention the article. Oh well, it's up to the people to vote the 'major parties' out if they are interested in stopping this atrocity.
No, the greens have NOT aligned themselves with either of the other big parties.
The greens have been campaigning against this sort of thing for ages. The Greens spokesperson for media stuff has the following campaigns running:

Re:ERROR
Unless the US want's a major backlash against all US corporations in Australia especially after bullshit like this http://christine-milne.greensmps.org.au/content/media-releases/trans-pacific-partnership-negotiation-dead-water, Uncle Tom had better get his grubby fingers off. This crap is just getting worse and worse.
Corporations who have not been able to gain control of governments are just using the US to force through this crap, via threats of trade and even violence. Hope and change has sure changed to despair and trapped. Another secret deceitful anti-democracy treaty championed by the US and Uncle Tom Obama.

Re:Working within the rules can still work
"Fellow Earthians,
Never before has the Universe unfolded such a flower as our collective human intelligence, so far as we know."
There is more of this sort of inanity from Bob Brown in the speech.
The Greens talk BS far more than they call it.

Re:Voting.
The Liberals where only waiting for Narus like packet tech to become cheaper for average isps.
Now they can see it can be done they will keep it.
Try the http://www.democrats.org.au/campaigns/no_internet_censorship/
or
http://greensmps.org.au/content/media-release/greens-tell-labor-abandon-net-filter-and-start-again
Both of the big parties in Australian have been infected by faith based groups with long term plans. -
Re:Looking slightly dangerous for Rudd
The opposition Liberal Party are finally getting their act together and the Labour Government doesn't want to feed them any issues to debate, so filtering is on hold.
Try greens (if you dare): at least, in regards with Internet Filtering, they seem more reasonable to me
Greens tell Labor to abandon net filter and start again
Sure, less likely they'd win the election but maybe, while passing their votes to labor, they'll also pass their point of view in regards to Internet filtering.

Re:It's really about comparative cost, though.
You are failing to take into account for the costs of nuclear power the vast amoung of money that must be spent on PR and the like
I didn't take the cost of PR into account because neither it nor nuclear power is needed.
to get the public to allow the safest means of mass energy production we have due to their insane and irrational fear of anything with the word nuclear in it.
Not everyone opposes nuclear power because of some nebulous fear. Ask the Navajo about the impact of uranium mining on the Navajo Reservation. Or some First Nations in Canada. Or the Aboriginals in Austrailia. Ask France about the nuclear spills there.

Re:Needs to pass Parliament first
It seems Senator Brown (Greens leader) has already spoken of this here. His colleague Senator Ludlam has been doing some investigation...

Re:Letter sent to Stephen Conroy
Here's a transcript of a October 2008 hearing on net filtering involving Conroy (the Minister) and Ludlam (a Senator questioning him). I can actually understand the guy's point of view, but I'd still have to peg him as Lawful Obstinate - I'm thinking of Judge Dredd - obeying the law and using technology to ice the perps is more important than what else the government might use the technology for.

Re:WTF?!
have a look at this link, yet another blog with info on the whole pesky internet censorship thing here in
