Dekortage writes "The iMedia Connection newsletter is running a story on how some politicians are violating CAN-SPAM with impunity. Apparently so-called 'political speech' e-mails do not fit the legal definition of spam, even if they are wholly unsolicited and unwanted. In this particular case, the spammer is the attorney general of Florida, who considers himself an anti-spam crusader." -
New Method of Tracking UIP Hits?
smurray writes "iMediaConnection has an interesting article on a new approach to web analysis. The author claims that he is describing 'new, cutting edge methodologies for identifying people, methodologies that -- at this point -- no web analytics product supports.' What's more interesting, the new technology doesn't seem to be privacy intrusive." Many companies seem unhappy with the accepted norms of tracking UIP results. AOL Tries Adding Games To IM Software
Thanks to CNET News for their report that AOL is integrating games into its Instant Messenger software. The company has partnered with WildTangent so users can "...invite and play online games with others... [and] can also instant message with those they're playing with." According to the article, advergaming is also part of the mix, since "The two free games initially available will be sponsored by dnL, a soft drink produced by Dr Pepper/Seven Up, but the remainder of the games will require payments", and it should be noted that many of WildTangent's games are single-player only, but with online high-score tables.
