Re:Again, false solutions ...
LOL.
America is not even the largest meat eating nation
This is the problem with you far lefters. You scream that America is the one that is all wrong. Yet, you ignore the fact that we are not even number 1 in any of the categories that cause issues. More importantly, the difference is minimal.
This is the same problem with CO2. Many of you, such as yourself, will scream about America's CO2 emissions, yet, ours is at 14% of the world total AND DROPPING fast. OTOH, China's is at 33% and climbing. In fact, according to OCO2's data, China is MUCH higher than 33% (IOW, facts collide with what the chinese gov. "reports" and you far left accept).
Really want to make a change? Then quit pointing at ONE nation (esp. when it is NOT the root cause) and instead, come up with solutions that solve it for ALL. -

Re:So....far more than guns
So I went to this page:
How is a "suicide rank" a meaningful measure? If you have 50 states, one will rank #1 and one will rank #50 (bfd). Digging deeper, we at least see the difference between #1 and #10:
1. Alaska: 22.1 suicides per 100,000
10. Oregon: 15.2 suicides per 100,000I couldn't quickly decipher from the 100+ page PDF what #50 is.
Here is another page that attempts to take the rare, tragic event of suicide and needlessly adds contrast to universal problems:
The dark blood-red (R) states are in the category of 14.19 - 20.08.
The light happy-white (D) states are in the category of 5.23 - 10.70.Consider that the two sharpest contrasts of color are divided by 14.19 (in the blood-red states) and 10.70 (in the happy-white states).
I dare say you are a party to statistical manipulation and not helping very much.

Re:So....far more than guns
You're so right, states with the highest rates of gun ownership have 60% more suicides total and 4-10x the gun suicide rate. Interesting data, I was really not aware.
Yeah, but now look at the states in question and tell me what else they have in common. Seems to me like people who live in those states also want to kill themselves more often. And I can see why.

Re:Only if unsuccessful
The US has the world's most stable power grid and every hospital has backup generators. The '03 blackout is the only major incident to happen to the US power grid and even then, backup generators. The idea is that the *best* care can only happen when the lights are on. That is why they come to the US. This is a fallacy by the way.
The US doesn't even make the top 15 list of healthiest countries. If you want the best doctors you're better off in #1 Monico, #2 Macau, or #3 Japan.

Re:Microsoft Abandoning Windows
More a sign that the world is abandoning Microsoft.
Microsoft Corporation (MSFT): Windows 8 Has Failed, Now What?
The rise of tablets and smartphones has shaken up the once dominant “Wintel” PC paradigm. In an attempt to re-establish its supremacy, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) designed Windows 8 to be a hybrid operating system, useful on a variety of platforms.
But Windows 8 adoption has been poor -- consumers seem baffled by the changes. Meanwhile, Windows tablets are selling poorly, and Windows Phone remains in fourth place.http://www.insidermonkey.com/blog/microsoft-corporation-msft-windows-8-has-failed-now-what-110483/
