Lava lamps are VERY deterministic!
Have you ever watched a lava lamp for a while? Especially one that's been around for a while? They're incredibly deterministic.
I would think this would be a better source: http://random.irb.hr/ -
Re:What?
This one was funny too: http://random.irb.hr/signup.ph...

Re:pseudo+pseudo=true?
Can two pseudo random numbers actually be combined to give a truly random number?
LOL, no.
I'm no mathematician, but I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as 'true random numbers'. I think the closest we can come is the Quantum Random Bit Generator from some years ago. -
One:
3000 rolls isn't anywhere near enough.
Two: All gamers, apparently, go through a phase where they blame their dice for things not going their way. Get over it.
Three: This is why there are so many gamers that have boxes full of dice; they haven't got over it yet.
Four: Still insist on 'physical' dice hamstringing you? Fine. Write a smartphone app that uses the Quantum Random Bit Generator free service. If that isn't random enough for you, then you need psychiatric help, you're way too in denial to be healthy. -
Quantum Random Bit Generator Service
CAPTCHA security - more worthless by the day (23 July 2008)
The article suggests using the Quantum Random Bit Generator Service sign-up approach; you do know your maths through at least calculus
... right? -
Re:It's a Turing test
This is my favorite captcha, some are ridiculous: http://random.irb.hr/signup.php
Refresh the page a bit, fun to see what you can get. -

Re:Mix it up a bit?
Well, honestly I have enough trouble with this one from the article

Re:10 worst CRAPtchas
Oh and http://random.irb.hr/signup.php for math problem captcha...

Re:How does quantum states end up in car accidents
well, here's one way. use this site. if you get a 1, go drive head-on into someone.

entropy?
I bet there's a way to incorporate some qrbgs randomness to improve the security.

Captchas require calculus
Look at the signup page. You not only need to prove that you are a human but also that you have elementary knowledge of calculus.

Re:Wow!Too bad that's only ROT13:
Not really the hardest of encryptions to crack.
..OMG, did anyone see that to register you have
to solve a math problem like:
derivative of (5*sin 3x +6cos(-pi/2))
Nice!
Here is a direct link to the generator, you can
download the client from here as well:

QRand Command-line Utility [v0.2, 2007-07-17]
Note 1: Compiles under Visual Studio and g++.
Note 2: Windows executable included.
Note 3: GNU Linux executable included. -
Link to the actual website.
The link in the summary is a news report that links to the site itself. The site itself is http://random.irb.hr/, is easily accessed directly, and requires a registration.

Re:Are these the tools for decompiling DNA?
I was surprised by this point, too. Wolfram mentions DNA (he MENTIONS just about everything) but not anywhere near as much as I would have thought he coulda/shoulda/woulda. If he'd spent ten years analyzing the various genome databeses out there with the same level of intensity, I think he would have REALLY come up with something spectacular. But that would make him a biologist, and he considers himself first and foremost a physicist...
