Atari Paddle TV Game Confirmed, Capcom, EA Next
Thanks to IGN Gear for its article confirming the forthcoming Atari 2600 Paddle TV game from Jakks - the news story explains: "Like the Atari TV Games joystick released two years ago... gamers simply plug it directly into the television to experience the old-school games", and indicates the game line-up for the 1 or 2-player versions will include "Breakout, Canyon Bomber, Casino, Circus Atari, Demons to Diamonds, Night Driver, Steeplechase, Street Racer, Super Breakout, Warlords, Warlords Arcade, Video Olympics, Arcade Pong and Pong." We've previously covered announcements of many other licensed TV games from Jakks (Midway, Namco, Activision), but haven't mentioned a forthcoming Capcom TV game "including 1942, Ghosts 'N Goblins, Mega Man, Gun Smoke and Side Arms" - the official Jakks TV Games site also has 'EA Sports' listed as an (unelaborated on) game choice. -
JAKKS Licenses Midway Classics For TV Game
Thanks to Yahoo for reprinting a press release revealing JAKKS Pacific has signed a deal with Midway to produce a standalone 'TV game' based on classic Midway titles. We've recently covered other newly announced titles in the JAKKS TV Games series, including Namco, Activision, and Atari models, and this title "...will feature top-selling Midway games, including Mortal Kombat, Spy Hunter, Rampage, Joust, Defender I & II, Robotron:2084, Marble Madness, Smash TV, Super Sprint and Paperboy", although it's unclear how exactly faithful the conversions will be. -
JAKKS Adds More Namco, Atari Paddle TV Games
Thanks to Yahoo for reprinting the press release discussing JAKKS Pacific's licensing of further classic Namco arcade games for their all-in-one 'TV game' line-up. The new "lightweight, compact, all-inclusive controller... will feature the classic games Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Pole Position, Xevious, and Mappy", and is a follow-up to a previously featured controller which featured other classics such as Pac-Man. JAKKS has also licensed Spider-Man for a stand-alone TV game, joining the other all-in-one games licensed from Atari, Activision, and others. The official site also has a list of forthcoming games, which look to include an as yet unannounced stand-alone Atari 2600 paddle controller. -

Namco Classics Hit TV Game Form
Thanks to an anonymous reader for pointing to the new Namco Classics 5-In-1 TV Game, which has just shipped to U.S. stores, and is the latest in a line of officially licensed joysticks with built-in games from Jakks that include the Atari 10-In-1 and the Activision 10-In-1, with a separately-manufactured Intellivision 10/25-In-1 also available. The built-in games for Namco's "blast from the past" are Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Rally-X, and Bosconian. No word yet on whether games have been altered in conversion, as purists have claimed for the Atari TV Game, but casual gamers should still dig it. -
