Another review
There's another review here by Ray Kurzweil, a guy who has been around real-world AI for a while. Possibly a few plot-spoilers, but mostly about the feasability of stuff done in the movie.

Wrong!
The fact that we are accelerating towards the Vinge Singularity is ignored. Kurzweil is extensively documenting this at KurzweilAI.net (unavailable today). Various estimates place this between 2020 and 2050. Once we have autonomous self-replicating systems (nanobots), we can dismantle the planets and turn it into computronium. We will come very close to the limits of the computational capacity allowed within our solar system within this century. Even if this fast ramp is not realized, you underestimate the progress that will be made in extending the human lifespan. We have the genome now, we will rapidly decode much of it over the next decade and begin to design and implement anti-aging therapies. Unless you are over 50 years old or will reject the use of such technologies, the probability that you will make it to 200 is quite high. Sorry, you have to face the problem.

folding@home makes all the others obsolete
If you want to facilitate and accelerate progress towards the kind of future I imagine you are all interested in, then I suggest you stop arguing and find a distributed project which has a greater potential than SETI or this cancer project/scam. Your best bet is folding@home Why? When we solve this problem, we may quickly find a route to full-blown molecular nanotechnology. So what? This will: 1) Cure all diseases including aging (no need to waste time on the distributed cancer project/scam) 2) Launch real space exploration/space industry (then SETI can listen for ET on a receiver the size of the solar system while the rest of us just go find them) 3) Push computers and AI way past Moore's law (haven't you been infected with the Singularity meme yet?) 4) Provide us with (nearly) unlimited wealth of material and energy (then you can do nearly anything you imagine - hey you could even keep arguing and wasting time if you wanted!) Some useful info..
Here's a site devoted to the evolution of man (sort of) Read on the singularity, very interesting veiwpoints
