1. Evidence about Martin's background would help the jury assess his character and might speak to his motivation. It looks like they were barely able to get in the results of the toxicology report that showed Martin still had traces of marijuana in his blood.
2. Zimmerman wasn't aggressive in getting out of his car. If he had closed the distance and attacked Martin, that would be aggression, assault. Martin was the one that attacked Zimmerman. He was on top of him throwing MMA style punches when he was shot.
3. "Stand your ground" was never a part of the case, ever. It was part of inflamed commentary. Zimmerman didn't attack Martin.

Race had nothing to do with the case. It was simple self-defense. Martin attacked Zimmerman by surprise, started beating his head against the curb, and was on top of his throwing MMA type punches. Zimmerman's life was in immediate peril, but he was able to pull his gun and shoot Martin. To the extent that race played a part, it was generally working against Zimmerman in that many commentators soft pedaled, concealed, or ignored derogatory information about Martin, as well as exculpatory information about Zimmerman. NBC doctored audio to make Zimmerman appear racist. The media kept referring to Zimmerman as white, when he is Hispanic with a black grandfather (or maybe great-grandfather). Despite the fact that pictures of the grown Martin were available, including ones showing some more troubling aspects of his life, the media kept showing pictures of him when he was much younger and innocent appearing. The media downplayed Martin's troubled history, and participation in fight club type activity, and his interest in martial arts. It goes on, and on, and on. Probably because of Zimmerman's name, the media was out for a lynching of what they thought was a white guy that had killed a young black man. They often got things wrong, and stirred the pot. Even the US Justice department engaged in some troubling behavior.

Based on your flavor of your questions I have the sense that you may have gotten most of the commentary on this case from a particular slice of the web that hasn't always provided good information on this. My suggestion is that you do some reading at this site Legal Insurrection. It has some interesting and informed commentary, by actual lawyers, on the case. Fair warning - you may not like what you read, but it is likely to be much more legally accurate and closer to the truth than what it sounds like you have been reading. The truth doesn't always taste good when it doesn't fit our expectations.

Prosecutors have tremendous discretion in how they conduct cases, and enormous protection under the law, although it looks to me like this is well over the line. Besides suing, he should consider bringing a complaint before the Bar. Not turning over possible exculpatory evidence would seem to be an ethics violation.

I can't say this is surprising though since the prosecution appears to be motivated more my politics than the actual legal situation.

Martin had broken contact with Zimmerman while Zimmerman was on the phone to the police. Zimmerman had agreed to meet the police that were dispatched to the site and was on his way when Martin confronted and assaulted Zimmerman. Martin had previous used a racial slur to describe Zimmerman. It was Martin's choice to confront Zimmerman. Since he was ahead of Zimmerman, Martin could have continued on his way to his house instead of confronting Zimmerman.

MARTIN WAS NOT WALKING AROUND IN A PLACE WHERE HE SHOULD NOT BE.

Martin was behaving in a way that a neighborhood watch volunteer (Zimmerman) found to be suspicious, which caused him to call the police, and agreed to meet the dispatched officers when they arrived. Martin described Zimmerman with a racial slur, then confronted and attacked Zimmerman.

From what I've read, it corresponds to the 911 transcript. The operator tried to get him to back off.

I think you need to reread that transcript again. Zimmerman had agreed to meet the police officers that had been dispatched to the site. Martin confronted and assaulted Zimmerman after that. Since he was ahead of Zimmerman and on his way home, if Marin had continued on his way he would have been home instead of assaulting Zimmerman, which led to his being shot.

And yet Al Qaida and company has done all these things, and they continue to attempt to recruit extremists to commit further attacks.

Tax cuts don't buy votes, by the way. Most of the wealthy are wealthy to such an extent that taxes don't bother them that much. The ones who hide money in overseas accounts from legitimate income are the minority. The majority of those who hide money in overseas accounts are hiding money that they gained illegally, such as through the drug trade, securities fraud, etc. Rather, paying their taxes would land them in jail quickly when the IRS can't determine where their money came from. Notice the effort required to keep money in overseas banks - the act of doing so isn't cheap at all, and can easily land you in hot water. Why risk going to jail for a very long time over not paying the government what ultimately doesn't amount to anything you'd really miss anyways?

Personally I have a hard time thinking of many wealthy people who don't vote Democrat, mainly because they tend to benefit the most by doing so. They vote democrat because democrats like to pay them for "make work" projects as well as invest in businesses that don't actually have a viable business model. Take Fisker for example. Fisker couldn't land much at all in private investments for a good reason. Tesla on the other hand had their shit together, which is why they actually had plenty of venture capitalist funding. Mr. Fisker just got some free income while he effectively pretended to innovate. Yes, those 1% that many self identified progressives rail against are themselves primarily progressive:

And here is another report, which seems consistent with the above, and seems to be someone different:

After hearing raised voice, the witness said he peered out of the window and saw two men grappling with each other on the ground, one on top of the other. He said there were two struggles, both of which were on the grass next to a sidewalk. “I heard the yell for help then I heard another as I would describe as an excruciating type of yell. It didn’t even sound like a help it just sounded so painful,” he said. Following the cry, he described hearing “popping” sounds, believed to be multiple gunshots. One of the men then cried out for help.

And of course Zimmerman was treated on the scene for head injuries, which is again consistent with the other reports.

As it was, the police took Zimmerman in for questioning in handcuffs, and released him. They know where he lives.

How about the surveillance video from the police station showing Zimmerman with no injuries after he was brought in? If his head was slammed into concrete such that he was at risk of dying, you would have been able to see it half an hour later. Here's the link you asked for. But apparently Zimmerman was not injured [time.com] as he claims. Surely you must be aware of that, which makes me think bad things about you.

You do know that Zimmerman was treated at the scene for injuries from havnig his head slammed into concrete by the 6'3" (1.9m) athlete Martin, was taken to the police station in hand cuffs, questioned, and released? You do know that there was at least one eyewitness that corroborated that Zimmerman was on the ground being attacked and calling for help? I'm sure you would know that... if you wanted to.

In 2009 there were 2,867 black males killed in the United States, of which 2,604 were killed by other blacks, 209 killed by whites. Why the outrage in this case? Might it be various people made assumptions about how this would play out?
