Re:That's good.
people who sell firefox,
That appears to be an innocuous "download Firefox with Google Toolbar" site. Perhaps you meant the typosquatter parked next door?
and rebadge Audacity as their own
That seems to be dead. Ironically, it has a typosquatter parked next door as well.

Here's a weird example I stumbled across...
Luxriousity Software
They offer Photoshop, Office, and Sound editor work-alikes for Windows and Mac.
Give you three guesses what you actually get for you $29.99... -
Re:What about these guys?
I was poking through the Luxuriosity site, and in their support section, on this page http://www.luxuriousity.com/supportinstall.htm If you scroll down about a quarter of the way, you'll see a spot where they forgot to search and replace "OpenOffice.org" with Luxuriousity, as seen below. If you still encounter problems, you may want to try launching OpenOffice.org manually. With your X server running, open a Terminal and execute the following four commands: setenv DISPLAY localhost:0 setenv DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH
/Applications/OpenOffice.org1.1.2/program:/Applica tions/OpenOffice.org1.1.2/program/filter cd /Applications/OpenOffice.org1.1.2/program sh soffice -
What about these guys?
These guys look like all they're providing is stuff like GIMP and Open Office. Unless the disks have the source on them, I somehow doubt that they're exactly complying with the GPL.
Got to love their mailing address. A PMB at a P.O. Box.

Also see
this hack, that turns Gimp into money.

Re:Maybe offtopic but...
They offer free stuff too...;3. Don't know how long it's gonna last, but it's their "karaoke" program...in other words, audacity.
-
Re:Maybe offtopic but...
Then, of course, there's their Multi-Track Music Studio, which seems to show quite a bit of audacity on Luxuriousity's part, if you get my drift.

Re:Maybe offtopic but...
These guys are hilarious.
As can plainly be seen in the graphics on this page they are running OpenOffice under KDE (for the first few images anyways). YET they are advertising their product as only being for Windows.
So the only sensible explanation is that they're using screenshots taken by others to advertise their product. GG!
Other apps on the site:
PDF Creator -> surprise, it's OpenOffice again!
SQL Server -> MySQL
and more! -
Re:is this a joke?
Luxuriousity software, makers of LuxuriousityPhoto and LuxuriousityOffice, have already begun work on a new web browser based on FireFox with Adbar. It will be called LuxuriousityInternetBrowser, and it will be free for download.

Well, everything Luxuriosity sells is repackaged open source software. Including Audacity. -

Give credit where credit is due.
Recently on eBay, I found a piece of software called Luxuriousity Audio. It does everything that Audacity does, and more! For only $9.99, you get high-quality compact disc recordable media, an e-paper manual, and community-supported forums for support!
I'd highly recommend Luxuriousity Audio to my followers and colleagues. You can also buy it using eBay, the world's favourite auction house.
Thank you for your time. Please send me money.
Sincerely,
Seth Finklestein

Re: Other examplesR
I bought a copy of LuxuriousityOffice last year for only $24.99 -- that's 95% less than Microsoft Office would have cost me -- and I was so impressed, I bought licenses for my entire office! It has the smooth responsiveness of OpenOffice, but the $24.99 paid for Luxuriousity Software's generous support policy. I get all the support I need for a whole 2 years! What's more, Luxuriousity provided the source code. For only $10.00, I can use LuxuriousityCompiler to re-"compile" the software to my liking.
Can you imagine getting Adobe Photoshop for only $24.99? I couldn't, but then Gregg told me about LuxuriousityPhoto. Now I can create photo-quality images in half the time of PhotoShop, and for hundreds less! I also get Luxuriousity's luxurious compiler and service guarantees.
In short, Luxuriousity is good. Very good. Seth Finklestein Good. -

Other examples
A company named Luxuriousity run by Gregg Collins is apparently rebranding well known open source projects and selling them on Ebay. He gives no indications as to the original title of the software, and he even goes as far as to claim, 'Be careful who you buy from, only Luxuriosity offers a complete package including full support and refund services.' and 'We are a licensed Community distributor.'
I've submitted this as a story twice, the first time it was accepted, but not posted (Slashdot went down, I think it got lost), second time rejected. Anyway, it seems like this is a good story to post it under, since it's basically the same story as this one.
