Software is already in place
From the article: "the software would need to be custom, no current internet radio software allows you to pick the songs you want to hear, they do it for you."
Apparently this guy has never heard of Massinova. Massinova is an all request trance webcast. The listeners pick the songs via the website and the system queues them up and plays them. It's a great way to find out about good trance. -
Post in review:
I thought I'd give a review of the comments from this post:
The common agreement is the the SDK could stand more improvement.
The following are some of the channels that are available. Clicking will add them to your copy of Sherlock or link to the homepage of the channel:

massinova has a sherlock 3 channel. i believe it was the first non-apple sherlock 3 channel. it was created months ago when the first version of the sherlock 3 sdk was posted, before it was pulled. check out the massinova extras.

Streaming audio
Maybe you'd want listening to online mp3 broadcasts... Almost all online radio stations have forums to discuss what's on air and such; pick up a station you like and you'll see what's playing, and what other listeners like. I suggest:
DigitallyImported (probably the most popular; trance, hard trance, house)
Massinova (eurodance / trance site in which users decide what will play next, with a moderation system for the tracks...)
SomaFM (oops, killed by CARP -- had good Drum'n'Bass)
Tag's Trance Trip (trance -- wait, off the air due to CARP)
XTC Radio (trance and prog house)
Philosomatika (goa and psytrance)
Bassdrive (drum'n'bass)
Xanu (Chillout and lounge) -
Digitally Imported
Digitally Imported, I think, is a good place to start learning about electronica in general. It's internet radio, so it does kind of require a broadband connection, however it lets you listen to various artists without spending time randomly downloading/pirating MP3s, and it gives you (what I consider to be) a relatively wide spectrum. Also, electronica stations are in abundance on Shoutcast, check them out for links and info.
Another personal favorite is Massinova, which is a pretty small webcast station. Try them out, I'm almost always listening if I'm in front of my PCs. -
Streaming Net Radio
I love SomaFM and Massinova - so glad they have not had to close down 'cos of this CARP malarkey.
I think the whole core of this subject is diversity.. I can rarely stand more than 30 mins of any FM radio station here in the UK.. (except Pete Tong, BBC R1 on a friday night ;-) It's nice to have the choice and hence discover stuff, and then even buy the CD - if it can be purchased in the UK for a reasonable price.
Its a new age..

Re:stupid q
One is for Massinova, a spiffy online electronica radio station. You can access it via Radio Stations > Electronica in iTunes, or by downloading their menubar plugin or Dock extra.
The other is ProcessWizard, basically a GUI to re-nice processes. -
