MyrealboxI've had the same problems with a Myrealbox.com and a MsgTo.com account. There SMTP server was sometimes down, this is of course not such a tradgedy, the bad thing was that there POP, IMAP servers were down and I noticed that I effectively lost mail.
I mailed them a couple of times about this but I never got a reply. I now use an e-mail alias which seems to be much more reliable.
Disclaimer: both services were (are?) still in beta when I used them, though that status must have been for over a year.

Re:Threat to "secret ballot"?Re: "Is it:hallada@msgto.com ? How did you get such a short domain name?".
msgto.com is a free web based email system with spam blocking filters built in. They're grrrreat. They've given flawless performance for months, and will soon move out of beta.

SPAM? Get MsgTo....I have found that there is only one GREAT solution to SPAM (of which I am sent way too much)... the answer, MsgTo spam filtering! If you want to scrub your mail for good, set up an account at www.MsgTo.com I forward all my accounts through it and it has a free pop service or web interface. If the cell companies would set up a system to allow you to manage your phone mail account the same way, I think that would solve many problems.
I have used MsgTo for about a year now and I have never had a single SPAM mail show up in my Inbox! Sure, there are some other features that would be awesome, but for the pure SPAM scrubbing utility of it, there is nothing better.

There is a new spam filtering service available at MsgTo.com that filters e-mail based on a Turing Test. It looks very promising. The service doesn't use SSL/HTTPS yet, but the author would like to release the whole system under an open-source license if there is enough developer demand. And demand is one thing that
/. is good at. The site appears to be very fast, but I'd really like to know if it can survive the slashdot effect!
(BTW I tried to get this posted as a main /. story but it seems to have been ignored.)
