I'm sorry to burst your bubble here
Just about every pop song for the past... eternity... has used the same pattern: I, V, vi, IV. It's hilarious how bad it's getting. For instance, look at the preview of Coldplay's "The Scientist" on MusicNotes. The original key is F Major, so we'll work off of that. We start off with a Dm chord, thusly iv (minor sixth). Transition into Bb Major, so we get IV (major fourth). Then down to F, so I, and finally to C, so V (major fifth). They just shifted the pattern two chords over.

Re:What does being a girl have to do with it?
Where are the research papers about how to get more men into Nursing? Or men into elementary education? How about Men into being stay at home dads? Men being "Admin Assistants"?
Why does it seem that "gender equality" only a one way street?
Because you haven't noticed that it is a two way street?

Even better, you should start singing "Let's Get More Men Into Nursing"

Re:Freudian Slip?
Again, you can buy songs individually for about $4-$5 each at sites like Sheetmusicdirect.us and Musicnotes.com - and they actually have a lot of material that is out of print or harder to find... so the argument for not wanting to pay $30 for a book really doesn't work anymore. Then again, MXTabs.net is working on relaunching as a free, legal guitar tab site this summer. So hopefully this whole issue will be put to bed soon.

Re:Anyone see a business model here?
Legal sites with guitar tab for purchase like iTunes: Sheetmusicdirect, Freehandmusic, and Musicnotes.com. Lastly, if you didn't see the news, MXTabs.net is coming back this summer as a free, legally licensed guitar tab site.

Re:My letter
I should also point out that you can buy and download legal guitar tab for The Killers (or buy a tab book, if you'd prefer that) at sites like Musicnotes.com. Here's a direct link: Licensed The Killers guitar tab.

Re:Copyright is copyright
Actully there are sites like iTunes for sheet music. http://www.musicnotes.com/ has been around for about 7 or 8 years now and has been working on the iTunes model since before iTunes even existed. They have over 50,000 legally available sheet music downloads avaialable - almost all popular music. If you can't find it there, you probably won't find it anywhere. Plus, you can download individual songs and are not forced to buy a full book (although if you want to buy the book, they sell those as well). Hope this clears things up.

MusicNotes
www.musicnotes.com is not free, but the site is pretty slick and to my knowledge is the largest online sheet music retailer. They do have some free sheet music, and they have a browser plugin that lets you preview (and play) the music.

They sell at about $5 per song....
Part of the reason RIAA is going after the free music databases is that they would like to sell you the sheet music for about $5 per song. Checkout MusicNotes. In fact I've seen songs for more than $10 bucks on there, depending on the format.
I never got tabs, they're often incorrect and missing a lot of information. But there is no way guitarist are going to spend $5 per song for sheet music en masse. Personally, I prefer buying books of non-RIAA songs.
They saw that legal online music only took off after iTunes started selling music for $1...
PS. Does anyone know of an online database of public-domain MusicXML sheet music?
