Re:I solved this very problem.
The OP may want to look at some tools that will query the MX record and then test the mail server for various common pitfalls. This site has a number of useful tools for dealing with personal e-mail servers: http://mxtoolbox.com/
Who, me? If so, I've an SSL certificate and MX Toolbox reports no problems. Comcast was (silently) dropping emails so I ended up going the smarthost route.

Re:I solved this very problem.
Reverse DNS is the big one but adding a real SSL certificate to the mail server lends credibility as well. It's definitely not trivial to setup a credible mail server these days but, it's certainly not an insurmountable task. I've run mine for about two years and, once I jumped through all the hoops to get it setup right, I've never had any issues with sending or receiving mail. Bullshit
The CTO of Fight for the Future — the non-profit activism group
A registered non-profit?? Not that it (transparency) matters - a good cause is sufficient, and the more groups targeting that cause the easier the battle.

The site been blacklisted by Twitter, Facebook, and major email providers as malicious/spam.
Bullshit Not blacklisted . A dig through the history shows that some of the email accounts have been blacklisted in the past - for spamming. No conspiracy, just piss poor security, hunger for publicity, bad manners, and general IT ignorance. (e.g. complain about Ffffacebook and Google but overlook what Yahoo does with non-SPF signed email)
Over the last week, nobody has been able to post the website on social networks, or send any emails with their URL.
Bullshit All posts of links to the site published in the past week
Thanks Jeff. For nothing. Failure to check your facts doesn't help the campaign - the proponents of TPP don't have to block you - your incompetence and dishonesty does the job for them. Not that I'm accusing you of diluting the EFF campaign, or cashing in on it...

How to setup a SMB mail server
Being that I setup SBS 2003 and SBS 2008 boxes, let me explain what you really need to make it work.
1. A business class ISP subscription. Along with this classification, you get a netblock of IP/s that (usually) wont be preemptively blacklisted by SORBS (I hate them).
2. Reverse DNS (PTR) record. Not having one is almost guaranteed to get your sent e-mails blocked. Getting one created is easy as pie if you subscribe to a business class ISP.
3. SPF record. They're many online wizards to help you create one. My favorite is from Microsoft.
4. DNS that will host TXT records. Needed for that SPF record you just created.Once all completed, be sure you test out your handy work over at http://www.mxtoolbox.com/ Good luck.

Re:I don't think it will cost you a job.
throw-away catch-all for signing up to forums and the like
That’s what Hotmail and Mailinator are for.
In fact, anon.doesntexist.org exists solely to point e-mail to Mailinator.
