Re:intact after X-ray?
"hard X-ray free-electron laser" - are the viruses realy intact after such a burst?
BFD
.There's nothing like re-inventing the wheel. Royal R. Rife invented a non-lethal microscope way back in the 30's. However, just like Tesla, Farnsworth, Reich; Rife was ostracized by the peer community (read the corrupt medical and pharmaceutical organizations). -
Re:These would be nice!
So would this be like the Royal Rife bateria microscope? I thought I read that his micro scope reflected and magnified light in such a way that he could watch live viruses. Perhaps this dicovery has more medical benefits then physics.
Oh heres a link from Google for what I'm talking about http://www.navi.net/~rsc/rife1.htm -
old old news
Such a thing was invented long long ago.

electricity kills bateria fairly easily (3-5 volts usually).
Viruses can be killed using certain frequesncies that
match their resonance. -

Re:The "freely redistributable" quote is so ironic
But why would you, if you were the author of free software, want to permit someone to take your software which you have contributed to the community, and make a proprietary product out of it? I'm not saying they shouldn't make money out if it--but I'd prefer that if someone were going to improve or use something I had contributed, that they should be required to return their changes to the community.

Enough flames--can anyone say anything useful?
Does anyone actually know anything about this product--worked with, read up on it, etc?

Re:smbpasswd question
If you use 'security = server' and 'password server = x.x.x.x', it will authenticate users with an NT server.

Paranoia
... which is now being phased out (by Red Hat, at least), now that someone has created a free replacement (Electric Eyes, GQview, etc).
What are other distros doing for image viewers?

Check LinuxHQ and look either in the patches or the mail archives.

A proverb...
I'm reminded of a proverb, the origins of which I cannot recall (I think it might be American Indian):
A young man is about to take his boat across the lake, and he hears a viper whispering to him.
"Please take me across the river with you."
"No, you're a viper, you'll bite me."
"No, I promise I won't. If you don't help me, I'll die."
"Okay then."
So the young man loads the viper up in the boat and takes him with him. The young man rows across the lake, and gets to the other side. He picks the viper up to unload him, and the snake bites him.
"Why did you do that? You promised you woulnt'!" the young man says.
"Because it's my nature. You knew I was a viper, and yet you trusted me anyway."
