NovaBackup 10 for a windows solution.
Personally I use NovaBackup 10 from http://www.novastor.com/. I just the DR image capability in it to go to my 'backup server' (NAS), as I found it more reliable than ghost or true image. Though I did test the Amazon S3 and FTP parts of it along with burning to dvds, BD backups are still too expensive for my taste. Though it does do tape and other stuff, but isn't tape dead?

Encryption?
What's a good inexpensive backup package for Windows that saves data encrypted to tape?
The Help in Backup Exec mentions that the password (if specified) will be required when accessing the files from within any Backup Exec program. I assume that means the data on the tape is not encrypted? I searched Symantec's Backup Exec 10d's online PDF manual but "encrypt" appears to be available only for DLO (Desktop/Laptop Option).
Maybe NovaBACKUP http://www.novastor.com/pcbackup/backup/n_backup.h tml ? -
Re:The reason the look cookie cutter....
I did a quick search on google and it looks like more people are using NovaNet-Web from http://www.novastor.com/ just from how all the sites are describing the enryption and the 'differential' backups. Do a seach on google for '448 blowfish backup' and you will see what I mean.

NovaNETHere, we use NovaNET by Novastor (Site). It allows for backups set by administrators (or users if you really want) to pretty much any device, including any tape drive. You could back the contents of every one of the client PCs to a single tape drive. Very useful, very easily set up. Just install it on a 'server' machine, then install it on each of the clients. Next time you log in, you'll see all of the clients' files available for backup.
I'd suggest downloading the 30 day trial from their website and give it a shot. There's also versions for linux & netware.
