Re:Correct
Tech nitpicking aside, I host a few websites on the same tomcat instance. All https work well in any known browser to me for every website.
Try https://pieroxy.net/ and https://ieai.pieroxy.net/
If you see a different picture, it works.

Re:If only other devs used ie6-upgrade-warning..
Yeah, if I were a malware/trojan author I'd copy this:
http://code.google.com/p/ie6-upgrade-warning/
instead of that obnoxious crap ( http://ieai.pieroxy.net/ieai-screenshot.png ).Get more installs that way
;). -
Re:If only other devs used ie6-upgrade-warning..
I put this on as many Work computers as I can. It tells them to stop using IE 5, 6, 7, or 8 and install a better browser like Chrome,Firefox,Opera. (I like opera best because it stores my bookmarks on the web - universal access at home, work, or hotel.)

Another initiative of the sort: http://ieai.pieroxy.net/. The only difference is that it doesn't necessarily just target the version 6.

Re:Why redirect them?
OK, so I bit and checked out your site, and I have to point out that the pop-up seems to be taking the wrong approach. End users don't care what kind of pains web developers have to go through to create the site they're browsing and make it compatible with their ancient browser, all they care about is that the web developer is delivering the information they need to them. Also, telling the user that you as the developer (and therefore face of whatever organization you represent) are "lacking patience, time and motivation" to support their browser tells them that you don't care about them, which is obviously a huge turn-off and likely to drive them away permanently, not encourage them to upgrade.

Re:Why redirect them?
Well, this is why I did set up the Internet Explorer Awareness Initiative.
IE6 is mandatory as it is still in use by more than 5% of our audience. But warning them gently is one option to try and push the users to upgrade !

Re:PDF is how they get IE to do it.
One solution: The IE Awareness Initiative !!

Re:I don't care about the screen...
Bring them to websites using the IE awareness initiative! People need to know!
-
Re:I don't care about the screen...
Th only relevant answer to that is to use the IE awareness initiative, so that users can see another ballot screen every time they go to a website
;-) All jokes aside, IE8 is not that bad of a browser when you compare it to IE6 that is. Sure, it lacks most modern HTML5 & CSS3 stuff that makes life so simple with the competition...
