Re:little Hogwort?
Yes, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is, indeed, Harry's school. Additionally, a hogwart is a type lily. It can be found, among other places, at Kew Gardens. So, "little hogwart" might be an affectionate sobriquet (like "little pumpkin") a parent might use to refer to their child.

Backing up nature. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is trying. They are running the Millenium Seed Bank Project. According to the index page, it is
"an internation collaborative plant conservation initiative. This worldwide effort aims to safeguard 24,000 plant species from around the globe against extinction."
They have multiple redundant backups, regular testing of the backups, and a massively distributed supplementary backup system for the earth's plants. It doesn't get everything of course, but throw in my efforts to back up my genetic code and you have everything you need to save the world or take over another planet.
With some big database fun, remote sensing and GIS goodness you have a good project for he conservation minded geek.
Also, try some bread made with quinoa flour if you get the chance.. It's an interesting change from Wonder Bread.

Kew Gardens
Kew Gardens, in the centre of London, is probably the Victorian version of this. It has glass houses for tropical, hothouse and desert landscapes, and even managed to get a titan arum flowering last month for the second time. (I went to see it, damn it was huge)
Not as big a scale of course, but the Millenium Seed Bank project gives it a well defined purpose other than a simple tourist attraction; to collect and conserve 10%, over 24,000 species, of the world's seed-bearing flora, principally from the drylands by 2010 and to collect and conserve seeds of the entire UK native seed-bearing flora by 2000.
