Re:No difference.
The UN hasn't bombed their own people either.
You wish. The UN has comitted dozens of genocides. Certainly they've knowingly done things like having their armies commit genocide on citizens of UN member states. Doesn't that count as bombing your own people ?

(but do not - for a moment - think the UN malice, incompetence and greed is limited to these 2 incidents. I just thought to give an example from the beginning of the UN and a recent example)These are just a few pointers. Let's also not forget that Qadhafi is the chairman of the UN human rights council (yes, he's "suspended pending investigation").
Which of them deserves to 'own' such an important international technology?
Nobody deserves that, obviously. So why tamper with the situation :
1) UN is a LOT less free than the US. The DMCA is tame compared to the European equivalent, and is a bastion of anarchism compared to Middle eastern or African versions of these laws. The situation WILL NOT improve
2) the US has built the internet. Of course they have some measure of control (though I seriously doubt the US has the power to shutdown the internet world-wide. No, not even the DNS system. Explain, for example, how the US could get the k root server to go down. You know, without bombing half of Europe and Asia's capitals)Let's not forget too easily that the UN's idea of social justice has, on multiple occasions, involved comitting ethnic and religious genocide.

Re:I don't get it.
The reason they're saying this is because conspiracy minded kooks think that the Federal reserve is the next Anti-Christ and is trying to plunge the world into depression so they can take over the world..blah..blah...blah.
I've heard from several net.kooks in the last year that the fed was going to issue this currency at a 2:1 value of our current currency, so they could (you guessed it) take over the U.S. -
Re:Fair and balanced? ROFTL..In reply to all the left/right talk in this thread. (Yes, I admit that this post is a bit off-topic from the original article, but it's relevant to all the posts from people talking about the "left" and "right", so I'll post it.)
From another post:
um please explain that. what i see is a country led by an extreme right wing leader (athiests arent citizens, the only way to settle problems is thru war, big business rocks, capitalism rocks, etc). maybe i just missed all the humanitarian things bush is doing, so if you could please enlighten me i would be greatful.
No, Bush truly is not "extreme right wing", he's actually closer to down the middle. Aside from that, your definition of "right wing", "conservative" is full of misconceptions. You and many other "left wingers" might be dedicated to humanitarian ideals, but government involvement in everything is not the way to go about that. The United States was founded on the ideas now called "conservative". Read the Constitution if you doubt that. There's nothing there which gives the government the right to do "humanitarian" things. These are left to churches and other private organizations, where they belong, and where they actually get done. Government involvement only does the opposite, allowing those in power to get rich while the rest of the world suffers from excessive taxes and inflation.
From another post in this thread:
Liking capitalism is an "extreme right" idea? We live in a capitalist society.
Sadly, no. We live in a progressively socialist society. We (at least the US) started out capitalist, but with things like the IMF and World Bank, we have been progressing down the road of Fabian Socialism for many years. "Fabian" is the term chosen by the Fabian Society, led by such English socialists as Sidney and Beatrice Webb and George Bernard Shaw. Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrocosus was the Roman general who won the Second Punic War against Hannibal:
{Fabian policy}, a policy like that of Fabius Maximus, who, by carefully avoiding decisive contests, foiled Hannibal, harassing his army by marches, countermarches, and ambuscades; a policy of delays and cautions. (dict.org)
Thus, the Fabian goal is the same as that of the Communist Bolsheviks, but their means. are through propaganda and legislation rather than violent overthrow.
The stained glass window at the Beatrice Webb House in Surrey, England, shows Shaw and Webb reshaping the world on an anvil, with the crest of a wolf in sheep's clothing in the background between them. It also portrays the masses below them, kneeling to worship books advocating the theories of socialism.
Through such institutions and policies as the Federal Reserve, FSLIC, and FDIC in America, and the IMF (also see: here) and World Bank internationally, America and the rest of the world have been submerged in the "ideals" of socialism.
For more information, if you want to be an informed and educated individual rather than another mindless person screaming "right wing extreme!", do some research on the Bolsheviks/Mensheviks, socialism, the Federal Reserve System, the FDIC, other policies instituted during Roosevelt's socialist "New Deal", the IMF and World bank established at the Bretton Woods Conference in 1944 by Fabian socialists at least two members of a Communist espionage ring in Washington, among other things.
For a start, I recommend The Creature from Jekyll Island to anyone who thinks we truly live in a free-market, capitalist society. The author, through much research, exposes the mechanisms which are making this society socialist (which is to say, liberal, aka "left"), and which have been the cause of massive inflation over the years by creating oney out of nothing.

Copy This....
For me this is closely related to a topic once brought up by Ray Kurzweil. It went something like: If we have nanobot swarms (atomic level robots in this case) that could actually create any physical item including furniture, clothing, even medicine, and which could instantly reproduce and repair themsleves, we would reach a new delema. Would these companies restrict the technology so that they could charge on the old model of one charge per instance (or in a companies IDEAL world, one charge per length of use, per functionality, etc). Keep in mind that after the first swarm its pretty much a free process, its all becomes IP! Would they really restrict the potential to clothe and feed and care for virtually everyone on the planet due to our (highly corrupt) concept of money (which is one of the few things in existance which doesnt obey the laws of balance. You can create money out of NOTHING, so what is it worth, really? Ask the Federal Reserve what THEY think. You think all your money is backed up by either cash OR gold? Nope. There is not enough "money" in existance to pay off all the debt created by the Fed. See here for further details) I think that the copy protected CDs Movies etc is the first real version of this scenario on a major scale. I dont think its nearly as critical tho - in my opinion, dont make it available to the public if you dont want them to use it change it, etc. Any other argument belies the fact that if its in bits you can copy it, and if the COMPUTER IS TURNEND ON, ITS INSECURE.

This is just one step in an overall strategy...
Let's help however we can.
The ultimate strategy is global totalitarianism folks. That's the New World Order. What you don't know is going to fuck up your life.
Get a copy of Sun Tzu's "Art of War" and this stuff will start making sense. Then we can mount strategic and extremely more effective methods of neutralizing these types of fascist control mechanisms.
For a very enlightened view of the strategy used to manipulate all of us check out this site:
