Re:the solution:
The murder rate in the US is vastly higher than any other developed nation.
Actually, it isn't. If you exclude the top few cities (with strict gun control laws), the murder rate is actually equal to, or less than most other countries. Inconvenient facts like Chicago, with its near total ban on guns, is suffering from the gun violence capital of the world. Take out Chicago, DC, New Orleans, NewYork City (Liberal utopias), and you'll find a different statistic.
Here is a list of inconvenient gun control facts: http://www.rightsidenews.com/2...

Re:Ah don't worry...
This from an anti-Muslim hate site. No supporting citations to their numbers, but they promise to "supply sources upon request". Instead of each item linking to some citation, they link to other pages on the anti-Muslim hate site that says the exact same thing as the item.
I decided to test your assessment. I took the first six news items they listed:
The List of Islamic Terror Attacks from 2012
2012.06.18 Pakistan Quetta 5 69 Five Shiite students are blown to bits by Taliban bombers.
2012.06.18 Afghanistan Tagab 6 13 At least six locals are exterminated when religious extremists detonate a bomb at a bazaar.
2012.06.17 Nigeria Trikania 5 40 A Shahid suicide car bomber crashes through a church gate and blows up at least five Christians.
2012.06.17 Iraq Fallujah 6 12 Two children are among six slain by Jihadi bombers.
2012.06.17 Nigeria Zaria 34 125 Holy Warriors walk into two church services and detonate, leaving over thirty worshipers dead in the carnage, including at least ten children.
2012.06.16 Pakistan Landi Kotal 26 65 Sharia advocates detonate a truck bomb amid a crowd at a market, sending over twenty-six souls to Allah. And this is what I found after a minute or less of Google news search for each - reasonable evidence for each of the six items listed.
Pakistan Bus Bombing Kills Students In Quetta
Blast in French-controlled Afghan town kills six
Islamists Bomb Three Churches in Kaduna State, Nigeria
Iraq bombings kill four, wound 32
At least 50 dead in three Nigeria church bombings, reprisal attacks
Around the WorldNow then, the links below are from a side bar labeled "News" on the front page. Apparently the sites you complain about as being hate sites include Reuters, the BBC, the CS Monitor, The Telegraph, the Emirates 24/7, and other lesser lights. In short, you are full of baloney - to be polite about it.

Re:Obligatory stat
None of that justifies the billions and billions of dollars we've wasted to combat a threat that statistically isn't significant, or the liberties we've thrown away in the name of a phantom bogeyman. None of that justifies the enormous amount of ill will the U.S. has generated around the world in the last ten years.
You say that parents don't have to explain why 3000 people died in a swimming pool. But look at the news. Because of our irrational fear and paranoia in the wake of 9/11, parents *do* have to explain why the (frequently not-so-)nice person at the airport has to touch them in places they said no one is supposed to touch. Do you really think that's better than explaining that yes, Virginia, there are bad people in the world and sometimes those bad people do bad things?
Whether the 3443 deaths due to drowning in a swimming pool is due to foreign action or a simple accident is simply irrelevant. Does it matter to the dead person if they died due to malicious intent or due to an accident? Of course not -- they are still dead! Is the pain of being separated from someone you love any less because it was just an accident? Of course not! The only difference is that in an accidental drowning, you actually have to deal with the pain of loss because you don't have someone to take it out on -- which I would argue only compounds the problem.
As far as "damage to pride," a "target for rage," or a "target to make an example of" is concerned, well, that is really the root of the problem, isn't it? Someone hurt us, and now, to feel good about ourselves, we have to go hurt them back, right? Because we are scared, and therefore, we have to have a way to show ourselves -- and anyone else that we think might get the idea to do likewise -- that we are still in CONTROL. But what happens when we do that? What's going on in Pakistan right now, in the wake of the raid that killed bin Laden? The Pakistani army is pissed at us (rightfully so, IMHO) because we invaded their sovereign territory and assassinated someone living in their country. We've publicly embarrassed and insulted them, and we've shown that we can take out anyone we want inside their country. Hmmm...so what happens when Pakistan decides that they need to hurt us back for the way we've embarrassed, insulted and scared them? Are they going to hit us back? And then we'll hit them back again, etc., etc., etc. That could get really ugly, really quickly. Pakistan IS a nuclear superpower, after all.
Ultimately, we've GOT to get over the fear that we allowed into the country on 9/11. We have become the bully on the playground, and we're pissing off our allies all over the world as a result. The way we are approaching the "War on Terror" by treating everyone as a suspect, rather than empowering the very people we are trying to "protect" through these onerous laws only serves to make the problem worse (there was a really good article at rightsidenews.com on this topic recently). If we can't regain some sanity and stop running around like Chicken Little, our country is going to become a shell of what it once was. -
the Wakefield autism case
"We had the opportunity to interview Dr. Andrew Wakefield fairly recently, who is at the epicenter of the vaccine storm. Wakefield has indicated that vaccines, especially if taken in multiple quantities, may affect certain children who are predisposed to be injured by them. One of the results, he has suggested, that needs further study is a potential linkage between autism and vaccines" link

Re:Politics
First, it isn't clear how Al Gore would instantly become a billionaire if cap and trade becomes law. Second, you really think one man is more influential than several, already, multi-billion dollar industries?
It's quite clear how he would become a multibillionaire. He started a company that does nothing but buy and sell carbon credits. He'd be the founder and owner of the biggest company on the carbon credit version of Wall Street. I also never said he was more influential than multi-billion dollar industries. However he is one of the most influential people in the world in terms of environmental policy.
While this may be true, they already are the completely dominant force in commerce and so they'll make even more money if they don't have to retool anything.
Incorrect. The cost of doing business in the developed world is more expensive than in the undeveloped world. The western factories are steadily losing ground to the Daewoos and Tatas of the world. Their profits (adjusted for inflation) are shrinking. They have a few choices: compete from a position that is inferior in the long term, level the playing field by getting rid of wealth destroying laws like western income taxes and minimum wages (which the economically ignorant would never let happen), or use the fear of the scientifically ignorant to pressure the developing nations to level the playing field the other way. These are the same mega-corps that promote ideas like mandatory worker health benefits, minimum wage, and complicated tax accounting rules. Sure it costs them money, but it costs their small scale competitors a greater amount (in relative terms), so they win. If the American corporations didn't want greater regulation and global environmental treaties, why did they give record amounts of money to the Obama campaign? It certainly wasn't because he wanted to make the US a capitalist country again.
What? Are you counting yourself and all the other posters on slashdot?
No I'm counting world renowned scientists:
Astrophysicist Dr. Sallie Baliunas
Statistician Stephen McIntyre
Professor Habibullo Abdussamatov
Geologist Astrid Lyså
Prof. Roy Spencer, NASA scientist
Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT
a few dozen here...including an IPCC member.
and these 32 000 guys.
That should be enough people to show there is no "consensus" on global warming. What cooling? The temperatures may be slightly cooler than the absolute peak, but to say there is a cooling trend is simply not true.
The "trend", as you call it, is a decade long...so far, and it's projected to last another few decades. How long was the warming that proceeded it? Twenty five years? I find it interesting that you quote a man (James Hansen of GISS) who was forced to retract falsified evidence that had claimed that the 2000s were the hottest decade in recorded history. And whose revised (i.e. more truthful) report showed that the world has cooled since the 1940s, while at the same time CO2 production skyrocketed. Additionally, wasn't he implicated in the CRU data manipulation? Yeah, he was. He's a trustwo

Re:Who's chasing them?

Kinda sorta
You're information is only partially accurate. The "birth certificate" you are talking about probably is the one posted on factcheck.org. This isn't even a birth certificate, but a Certificate of Living Birth, which does not provide proof of citizenship and is not a Certificate of Live Birth (which is the actual birth certificate). That point has confused a lot of people.
On Oct 31, hawaiian officials have refuted the images posted on the web by the Obama campain, and factcheck.org. What they confirmed is that a birth certificate does exist, but they still refuse to release what information it has about Obama's citizenship, etc.
Obama did lie and post false information on the internet about his identity. That isn't conspiracy theory. So what else has Obama lied about?
Oh, and again. If you really think that I've lost my mind, and that it's just manure rolled over, then why does it bother you?
