Re:It's a shame
Wikipedia's webmail list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...https://safe-mail.net/ isn't on that list but is worth mentioning.

Re:I'm a fastmail user. Where do I go?
I learned about it from a
/. AC some years ago and I like it. :) -
Re:Version 10
I heard about Safe-mail here on
/. and I've been using it for more than a year and enjoying it. -
Safe-mail
You may want to have a look at Safe-mail. It has a nice clean interface like Gmail does.

Safe-mail.net
https://www.safe-mail.net/ came up in a previous
/. article about privacy. I've been using it and I like it, it's a very simple and elegant interface. Conspiracy theorists will complain about the servers being located in Israel, but I frankly find that preferable to all-powerful Google. -
Re:Woody Woodpecker says, Use Tor + SSL!
and for mail:
Safe-Mail:
No cookies, no script, no java, no flash required!
https://www.safe-mail.net/Thanks for the link... but you do need JavaScript enabled to use Safe-Mail.

Woody Woodpecker says, Use Tor + SSL!
Download, install, properly configure Tor:
https://www.torproject.org/Certainly you should choose an open source and free operating system to
increase your security/privacy: http://www.distrowatch.com/Use one of the many tools available to build your own Linux liveCD/DVD/USB
with Tor installed/configured and yank out all of your HDDs or unplug them
while using Tor via Linux liveCD/DVD/USB, then while running Tor:Scroogle SSL:
https://ssl.scroogle.org/and for mail:
Safe-Mail:
No cookies, no script, no java, no flash required!
https://www.safe-mail.net/In the words of Woody Woodpecker:
Hah ha ha HAH ha, Hah ha ha HAH ha, HAHAHAHHAHAHHAAH!Fuck you corporations, fuck you snoopers, I do it MY WAY.
-
Tor + Scroogle SSL + Safe-Mail SSL = you win!
Fire up Tor:
Properly configure it and use Scroogle SSL:
Couple it with a decent mail client not requiring cookies or script:
Problem solved!
I have no desire or need for Microsoft/Google's direct offerings and surely not mail from either when Tor + Safe-Mail SSL does the job without scripts, cookies, flash, java, etc.
Exit nodes? Hah! It's all SSL, baby! (provided the user verifies everything is correct and in order)
Do you really, really, REALLY trust Microsoft (or Google)? HAHAHAHAH!
If it's not encrypted, it's not worth a SHIT.
None of it is done correctly (regarding insecure unencrypted websites), if you search naked without something like tor & ssl, you are stupid.

Just take a walk too...safe-mail
They don't even ask for your life story. Of course now that I've said this on
/. they probably are going to get flooded with spammers abusing them.
*doh*I've used safe-mail for quite a few different purposes, including my return email on
/. -
Re:Better free email
If you google around for free email services, you'll find some HUGE lists of free web-mail. Other people might like some other choices, but my favourite is SAFe-mail.net, which makes good use of encryption, has at least more space than hotmail (3MB), is quite customisable, has options for your interface (a few cutesie ones and a text-mode interface, which is what I use), and absolutely NO ADVERTISEMENTS (from third parties anyway). Anyway, look around. Yahoo and Hotmail are certainly not the only webmail providers out there.

Re:Here's SuSE's public statement
Um, ok. If I wanted to read SuSE's press releases, I'd just have them send them to me at phobos@safe-mail.net
