    When I was working at Sausage Software back in 1997 when the browser wars were on and Sausage was a serious threat to FrontPage, our newest version of the HotDog HTML editor was broken by a new beta version of IE. This was deliberate, and was easy to prove. Simply rename the HotDog.exe main executable (or whatever the name was to something else) and the program ran flawlessly!

    Shortly afterwards, I started learning GNU/Linux.

    I'll second that. Read about Rich Text Editing and Spell Check Come to TypePad and thats pretty much what the dog was designed for when I was working for sausage back in '95.

    The key difference is that with a server based model you have a simplified platform (browser) compared to targeting an operating system (MS Windows) with a binary.

    i used a nice html editor for windows called HotDog Express(http://hotdog.com)

    I don't think hotdog.com was ever used by the HotDog html editor. HotDog was made by Sausage Software who seem to be moving away from making web creation tools, but still have a website for HotDog.
