Malcom Gladwell is a corporate shill
http://shameproject.com/report...
http://mikethemadbiologist.com...
Malcom Gladwell is the product of conservative institutes and think tanks; he has worked for racists, the tobacco industry, oil companies, big pharma, and more. His books popularize the kind of thinking that said industries have used to defend their practices.

I've enjoyed Gladwell's books. It is a shame he does seem to have some significant conflicts of interest in much of what he has written.

Scare mongering, he says?

Why are you a corporate shill?
http://shameproject.com/report...
Why did you, after college, attend the National Journalism Center, a corporate-funded program created to counter the mediaâ(TM)s alleged âoeanti-business biasâ?
Why, as someone who is half-Jamaican, have you repeatedly associated yourself (and apparently continue to do so) with the white supremacist organization EPPC, which fights activists for economic justice?
Why did you write for American Spectator, which churned out anti-Clinton conspiracy theories?
Why did you recycle tobacco industry propaganda and quote lobbyists for Washington Post articles you "wrote"? Why did Phillip Morris consider you, according to their internal documents, to be a "friend" who could be counted on for pro-tobacco-industry stories?
Why did you clearly promote drugs for treating ADHD in kids, in which you heavily quoted researchers who were paid heavily by the pharma industry?
Why did you cite a pharma-industry cited study and defend the industry when it was attacked for high drug costs?
Why did you blame the victims in the Enron collapse, defending executives who committed gross fraud?

He is the master of shilling for whoever is paying
And I'm not talking about the defunct currency.

But he does prefer the big money over small.

Malcolm Gladwell? Is that you?
I think it is worth noting though that the main thrust of criticism is not that Gladwell's writing lacks facts, it is instead that they take issue with how he draws conclusions and oversimplification.
Cause saying that oversimplification (a process that by definition MUST not only discard, but also ignore facts) is somehow an alternative to lacking facts sounds exactly like something Malcolm Gladwell would say.
Just like presenting false conclusions and oversimplification as a "lesser sin"."No, no, no... They don't say his writing lacks facts to back it up. They only have issues with the fact that he's drawing conclusions out of his ass and making up a 'better' version of facts cause he didn't understand the original, boring ones."
And no... that's not the "main thrust of criticism". THAT is just the criticism aimed at his books.
Criticism of Gladwell is more extensive. -
Re:Yeah but it makes a good story
Malcolm Gladwell. Can you really take seriously, the man who claims that Steve Jobs will be forgotten by history, while Bill Gates will be revered like Pasteur and Oskar Schindler ?
Gladwell's been savaged enough for his whole "Tipping Point" pseudo-mathematical twaddle. As a columnist for the NYT, he's a perfect Tweedle-Dum to Thomas Friedman's Tweedle-Dumber.
What's less apparent to people is that Gladwell is a stooge, and lickspittle lackey to big industry.
Dissident Voice has a great article on how he's used his podium to Astroturf for denial of benefits to the insured.
"Gladwell has yet to disclose a list of his corporate clients and how much they pay him. Here is a partial list compiled from various publicly available sources:"
- Philip Morris
- Lehman Brothers
- Microsoft
- AHIP (health insurance lobby)
- Bank of America
- SHRM (union-busting lobby group)
- Genentech
- PricewaterhouseCoopers
- Hewlett-Packard
- Retail Real Estate Industry
Look into Project S.H.A.M.E., to fully expose the depth of this fraudulent, pseudo-intellect.

Re:The big difference here is
This shouldn't be marked a troll without looking into it. The link below shows evidence of his attending the National Journalism Center, designed by Philip Morris to produce effective contacts within the media in order to feed biased research to, and other wise argue their cause. He also spent time at a right wing think tank, known to push neo-con ideals. I make no claims against Gladwell, how ever there is evidence to support the above comments, that should be looked at to assess the accusation. http://shameproject.com/profile/malcolm-gladwell-2/

is this the same Macolm Gladwell
That likes to weave propaganda into his articles:
