You seriously want me to click a link to a pdf document in an article about social engineering?
LOLSo, how many slashdot reader's computer have you managed to root so far this morning?

Re:complete results?
This article must be a click farm because it sure doesn't have any actual content.
Of course not, this is slashdot, never link to the target when you can hype some blog instead.
Actual content at http://www.social-engineer.org/defcon21/DC21_SECTF_Final.pdf
Upshot: Be suspicious of calls from men, just hang up on women.

Re:complete results?
If those are the complete results that was a pretty short and piss poor competition.
If you look at the bottom of TFA you'll see a link to the complete results.

Re:complete results?
You're right, the link is to a lame story. However, at the end of the story is the actual results: http://www.social-engineer.org/defcon21/DC21_SECTF_Final.pdf. That, on the other hand, is full of information and analysis, although they don't provide specific information that was harvested from the companies, only analysis of the methods employed and the success rates of those methods.

Apple Scored Badly
Apple scored badly...
http://www.social-engineer.org/defcon21/DC21_SECTF_Final.pdf
...but a good deal of the flag points were given for gathering OS, service pack, browser, mail and PDF program/version information -- which I'm going to guess was a probably a given at Apple. -

Re:it didn't
No, he realizes what's up.
cut-n-paste from http://www.social-engineer.org/general-blog/innocence-of-the-media/ :
Adding more fuel to the fire, the creator of the movie, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, an Egyptian born Christian immigrant living in Southern California, originally masqueraded as “Sam Bacile”, a 52-year old Jewish real estate developer from Israel. [3] “Sam Bacile” claimed the movie was made with $5 million in donations by “more than 100 Jewish donors”, as reported by the Associated Press.
Trailers and excerpts were uploaded to YouTube in July 2012 garnering little attention. In September 2012, Morris Sadek, an Egyptian-American blogger previously exiled from Egypt for calling for attacks on Egypt, translated the YouTube video to Arabic and reuploaded it. Morris Sadek then sent video links to journalists.

Re:Umm, I don't get it
I'd suggest you may be mistaken. In fact, it would appear that his desire was to incite.
If the following is correct, he's an Egyptian Christian posing as an Israeli making a M Sucks video. That movie is not an insult. It is a tactic, and this was deliberate.

Re:The Only Solution
No, actually, I'd say it's more that you have made the error of thinking that because it's dramatized it bears no resemblance to reality. Social engineering is a big deal, to the extent that in places where security is paramount it's a major component in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing.
