Why Banned -- Some Answers
I found a site called the banned books project to be very useful in figuring out why various books on the list were banned. Just search on the name of the book.

Why BannedI remember reading about Where's Waldo, and here is a link confirming it, that there was a Where's Waldo beach scene contained a topless sunbather. That's why it's on the list.
Here are some links for other entries in your post:
- James and the Giant Peach: Language, drugs, inappropriate for age.
- Fried Worms: Inappropriate to age (too gross).
- Huckleberry Finn: Racism, offensive language.

A Wrinkle in Time
A Wrinkle in Time is apparently banned because it contains magic and "new age" nonsense. (http://solonor.com/bannedbooks/archives/001742.h
t ml). Oddly enough, Madeline L'Engle was openly Christian, known to run with other prominant Christian authors like C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. It boggles the mind. -
Re:Waldo
According to the banned books project (http://solonor.com/bannedbooks/archives/001808.h

Nudity.
Guess someone found something more than just Waldo. -
