Cal Schools May Nix SAT In Admissions Process
An unnamed correspondent writes: "The University of California school systems is considering to stop using SAT scores in college admissions. Story at Yahoo." The usual double-edged sword here: the SATs, ACTs and similar tests may be close to worthless, but other factors (like how GPAs [?] are calculated and weighted) varies wildly from school to school. (What might a GPA of 3.9 at Stuyvesant High be worth elsewhere, for instance?) -

Diamond Announces Wireless LAN for Gamers

According to next-generation online, Diamond multimedia has announced a wireless LAN for the average home user that'll operate at 2.4ghz and reach speeds of 1Mbps at up to 150 feet. All that for $200 with two NICs included. Now we just need to get those Linux drivers out the second this thing comes out. " I want a PCMCIA adapter too. Oh, and wireless electricity.
