Opt-in vs. Opt-out
Sarcasmo writes: "The Internet Law Journal has a very in-depth piece on the issue of opt-in vs. opt-out that takes on the good and the bad from both sides. How the current situation will (or will not) be handled, will depend on what conclusion lawmakers come to on this core debate. An opt-in requirement is TILJ's conclusion. What's yours?" This is a good, well-reasoned analysis - exactly the type of analysis that holds no weight in legislatures. -
Paper: Technical and Legal Approaches to Spam

I think it's well-thought-out, intelligent and complete. Spam litigation (which The Suespammers Project tracks) has been slow, partly because few lawyers know much about the issue; this paper will have an impact on legal community cluefulness." -
I Won A Lawsuit Against A Spammer
Ellen Spertus writes: "I sued Kozmo.com for sending me unsolicited commercial email and won using California's anti-spam laws. I believe it is the first case of its kind. Read the whole story, including why this particular piece of spam pushed me over the edge and how I sued in California Small Claims Court. I doubt I'll ever collect, since Kozmo is going out of business, but I'm very pleased with the outcome." Please do this. -
FCC Lays Down the Law On Decency
