Re:Let the free market handle thisYes, it's better here than it is in, oh, say, Zimbabwe.
But, by our traditional and very libertarian American standards, it's getting worse. The most dramatic example is the arbitrary placing of left-wing activists, including a nun, who have nothing to do with terrorism on no-fly lists. There is also good old Section 215 of the USA Patriot Act (the infamous "library clause"), which despite reports otherwise has been used. There have been the expected right-wing media attempts, aided by John Ashcroft, to equate dissent with terrorism. And, finally, there is the renewed effort by Bush's Justice Department to crack down on anything it deems pornographic using whatever means occur to it.
I would not be surprised if Cindy Sheehan is never able to get on an airplane again.

Re:Remember folks
The current meme among left wing academia is that capitalism gives consumers too many choices. Oh the tyranny of having too many brands of toothpaste to choose from! Microsoft is merely providing a service, by eliminating choice. We should thank them for not being greedy capitalists and burdening us with the tryanny of choice!

Re:Do research findings cancel each other out?
The latest study is The Truth for Today.
Its worked for the war on drugs for over 70 years, may as well apply to video games as well. Interestingly, both relate to activities that old white guys don't like to admit to doing and also complain that they serve no purpose and rot the brain and so want to force everyone else to abide by their standards. With the way things relate in goofy ways, like the soda/pop/coke study with the 2000 election, I sometimes think that psychohistory is only one weird research project away. :)
