Texas Wireless Ban Has Failed
chip rosenthal writes "The effort to ban municipal networks in Texas has failed. Texas House Bill 789 originally had provisions to ban muni wireless networks. The Senate passed a significantly rewritten version, without a ban. A conference committee failed to reach agreement, so the bill died when the Texas legislature adjourned this weekend." -
Spammers Exploiting Hotmail Vulnerability

In March, spammers discovered a new vulnerability in the Hotmail service that allows them to script their spam sending. So far I've seen a 2200% increase in Hotmail spam as a result. We're now at three months and counting, and the problem only seems to be getting worse." -

Reverse Domain Name Hijacking?

Chip Rosenthal is being sued because the domain Unicom.com that he registered in 1990 (before the web even existed.) allegedly infringes on Unicom Systems, Inc.'s trademark -- filed in 1997! Never mind the fact that there are tons of companies using the name Unicom. The whole sordid saga is chronicled at http://save.unicom.com. Again, somebody tell me why the system isn't broken..." -
