Re:Misleading summary
I'm running KDE 3.1 on a $100 machine (monitor excluded) and with the fanciest effects disabled, nothing feels slower than it should be. But on the other hand, I'm convinced it should be possible to have these peripherals do more and to it more efficiently than they do. A modular OS written in optimized assembly is what I want!
Back to user-friendlyness, I'd say that after installation and configuration KDE and probably GNOME too are ready for mom and dad. -
Re:Is late documentation a problem with Open Sourc
V2_OS has had plenty of documentation for a long time, but no one to code it. It might be an exception among the Open Source projects, though.

V2OS
If you like assembly, and think small, fast code is cool, check out V2OS (or better yet, contribute code!).
I haven't played with it in a long time, but it looks like it's come along by leaps and bounds. The first demo used somewhere around 50 K of floppy space and encompassed a kernel, filesystem, networking, and some basic tools. It appears that there's a stronger application base now, and it probably still sits on a floppy. -
Re:Strange ideas...
Are you saying I am not a geek? I use (or.. waste) 15 hours a day sitting in the front of a computer. 1 hour a day of that goes for gaming or (if I'm in really good mood) for school work. The rest goes for development. I have no use for another computer. I need one, and that's exactly what i have.
but... i guess, another puter to test things on wouldn't be so dumb... Okay, i need another computer, I am a geek.and the best geek x-mas gift? a working release of V2_OS 0.70! -
