Re:Apple zelots are a double edged sword.
Altivec enables stuff like Expose.
There is simply NOTHING LIKE it on Windows. Nothing even close.
Oh yeah? http://www.winplosion.com/
Yes, it's 10 bucks and not included with the os, but guess what, there's plenty of counter examples too. (e.g. 3'rd party trackpad driver 'side track' which was pretty much required until very recently) -

Re:The only thing I care about:
It's not WinExpose anymore. It's called WinPlosion now. http://www.winplosion.com/

Windows Winplosion
Will it be possible to make something like Winplosion for Linux
.. without using massive CPU and being a resource hog that is .. Winplosion is similar to MacOs Expose.

Agreed!
Why is Dell's Digital Jukebox, an iPod competitor, white-- when just about EVERYTHING ELSE DELL MAKES is dark in color?
As most Slashdot users probably already know, there has already been a ripoff of the iPod UI, designed to run on Windows-powered handhelds. Apple got that shut down.
The Expose feature in Mac OS X 10.3 has already been ripped off for Windows users. Initially it was even called WinExpose, but has since been renamed to WinPlosion (it is not known if that was at the behest of Apple Legal or not). Don't be surprised if Microsoft steals Expose as well and it shows up in Longhorn, whenever that ships.
Let's not forget the shameless iMac-lookalike PC clones that Apple had to smack down years ago via "trade dress" suits.
I can't find the links now, but there's at least one company cranking out PC cases that have a metal mesh front panel and look suspiciously similar to the Power Mac G5.
It never ceases to amaze me how these Apple competitors simultaneously cannot deride Apple's stuff loudly enough and copy it quickly enough. -
Re:Uh oh
I don't see you charging money for that?
Which is a key difference... There are iTunes skins for windoze music players, and iPod skins as well.... they don't go after them because they don't charge. (Of course there's always a good chance you're just trying to get some free linkage, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt....)
That said, I wonder how WinPLOSION (formerly called WinExpose) has survived this long. -
Oh, please.
If anyone deserves to be able to patent the stuff they produce, it's Apple-- since other companies apparently cannot resist ripping off damned near everything Apple does.
For example, why is Dell's Digital Jukebox white, when just about every other product they make has a dark colored case? So they can fool some rubes into thinking they're buying an iPod, that's why!
And we're not talking about submarine patents here. Apple is using them the way they were meant to be used-- to defend the fruits of their labors for a period of time, against the makers of half-assed knockoffs.
