So, you think it's a laughing matter, do you?If you think the world is there for your amusement, grow up.
I gather from your Web site that you are from the U.S.
Do you think that the September 11 attacks are a joking matter? Those attacks killed thousands; the effects of Chernobyl may have killed 300,000 if one accepts an estimate from a U.K. charity. The radiation of Chernobyl spread across multiple countries. -- I remember news reports reporting radiation tracked all the way to northern Finland ; radiation was tracked to Central Europe and the Mediterranean
.I entered college 90 minutes' drive east of Three Mile Island in the Fall of 1979. The campus was still on edge because of the accident and uncertainty about its long-term effects -- because weather can go from west to east there....

Re:Web Directory, not Sponsored links
Okay, it seems at though you must pay to add a commercial site to the directory, but non commercial sites (I think linux sites should qualify here). Can add through www.zeal.com

The essential info
Director: David Fincher
Starring: Morgan Freeman
Morgan Freeman owns the rights to this book, and has been keen to do it for a number of years. He's the one who approached Fincher about doing it. And scuttlebutt is that Moebius is doing the conceptual art.
Lots of info can be found here -
Not a unique idea
LookSmart has a new subsidiary called Zeal that is a dmoz like voluteer built directory, that includes the ability to import your bookmarks into a directory you edit. (Note: if you sign-up use the referral code xeditor to date five dollars to the Electronic Frontier Foundation)
Another dmoz like project is MOVEO.com but its just getting off the ground so I'm not clear on how it works yet. But aparently everyone who registers can set up their own virtual portal, and these links are then shared by anyone using Moveo.

charity on zeal.com
robp-- Sorry to butt in. I'm sort of a lurker around here, and never signed up to do anything, but i saw this thread and couldn't resist. I go to the hungersite all the time too. I recently found out about another site -- zeal.com -- which gives much more to charity (up to $60 per day per person instead of 4 cents). The catch is you don't just click and go away, you have to register and add websites or rate websites in their directory. But it's pretty fun/addictive. And you can also pick the charity that you want to benefit or add one.
Is it legit? I don't know -- but they do have a page that shows the money they've already given away to the charities, and they have some quotes from some of them on the site.
The charity section of the site is at www.zeal.com/charity, and the regular directory home page is (surprise) www.zeal.com -
